FACT: There is no evidence that the legendary "dragon" creature exist--no fossil record etc.

FACT: A type of lizard named the Komodo Dragon exists around the islands near the Indian Ocean. However, in terms of physical appearance, this "dragon" doesn't resemble the classical, legendary dragon (the classical "dragon" actually is more serpent/snake-like and can fly...the Komodo Dragon is more lizard-like in form), and in fact, the term dragon was bestowed upon it in recent times. It's similar to calling Pacquiao "Pacman" (i.e. the term Pacman wasn't invented AFTER Pacquiao became famous, it already existed as a term to describe a fictitious character who loves eating power pellets).

FACT: This point is specifically directed to the threadstarter. In ancient times, when humans couldn't figure out what they saw, they attach a lot of legendary attributes to the event, creature etc that they've seen. One good example is a solar eclipse. Since people a long time ago, didn't know why the sun was dimming and becoming black, they invented the concept of BAKUNAWA, a serpent that ate the sun, and spat it out again. Nowadays, we know that the Bakunawa doesn't exist, and the thing that covers the sun is actually the moon. Science expands horizons and eliminates erroneous concepts.

    ergo?

all are just make up stories to keep kids inside the house at night? so wla gyud silay proof or maybe say, a bone sa dinosaur diay to, pero they thought it was a dragon?

ive read a book before na gi sulti ang parasaurolophus were once thought to be the dragons, kay maybe these dinos probably exhaled very hot gas kay ang ilang nasal crest kay thought to be a sounding instrument and a cooler para sa ilang brain and skull...

then second pangutana is, ni exist pa day sila saunang panahon katong naa na mga tao? answer is maybe daw. ngnau with all the hightec gadgetry sa mga peeps karon wla man gyud nila ma prove na exiting or not si Nessie?

If you use Occam's Razor on Nessie, the creature does not exist.

Avoid reading books that sensationalize fossil finds and the like. If you REALLY want to seriously study fossils, concentrate on Paleontology materials and books.

I'm neither a paleontologist nor an archeologist. And I think my daughter knows more about dinosaurs than me. You're missing the point here--the issue is not whether you and I know much about dinosaurs or not--the issue is are we using the proper tools of analysis to conclude whether an idea is valid, rational and logical or not, regardless of whether the subject is about dinosaurs or toilet paper.

There are two basic types of "researchers" in this world. One type of researcher wants to find something "sensational", in the hopes of popularizing his find, and make the world more "interesting and exciting" (even though the method he used to arrive at his conclusions were incorrect) and maybe earn a quick buck from his sensationalism. The other type of researcher simply wants to find out how things work/worked, using the tools of rationality, logic and the scientific method, and doesn't care if his findings are boring or not popular. And he doesn't do it for money or fame--he just wants to satisfy his curiosity, because he is Homo Sapiens...wise man.

Now try to figure out what sort of researchers and scientists are those you read about, who keep trying to find fossils of dragons and whatnot, and make claims that they've found such items.

I can't help but saying this. But very well said. =)

I've always wondered if dragons really existed. I've never seen proof about them on books or in the internet. Or maybe I just haven't been looking that hard. =)) hehehe
