ebay doesn't exist in cebu city philippines

    why

because i can't buy items from ebay since i don't have paypal.... most users would ask for paypal payments

so to say paypal doesn't make ebay.... what does make ebay?

ebay exist maybe in countries with paypal and that is an undisputable fact

but with no paypal here ebay is really not a place to buy products.....

    1. eBay is an auction site.
    2. Paypal is used for transactions.
    3. You do not have to use Paypal for eBay. If you do not know this by now, you must not know what Paypal is and what eBay is. They are two separate entities owned by one company. Are you implying that eBay did not exist before Paypal came along?
    4. What makes you think that Google is going to allow transactions from the Philippines with their new service? There is a reason why Paypal is not in the Philippines.
    5. If you are so adamant on using eBay ... do not use Paypal. People buy and sell internationally every day ... using other means of payment.
    6. Technically eBay is in the PH. www.ebay.ph

if only i could transact with my credit card with ebay

    it wouldn't be a problem

i think Google will not make the same mistake as paypal in the philippines

example Globe telecom has G-cash.... Smart has smart padala....

companies that innovate wins.... I just don't see any EFFORT on paypal to create a product for the Philippine market............

Ebay simply doesn't offer me anything..... i can't buy and i can't trade....

ebay is an auction site.... true

how do you pay for the auction? paypal...... yes I can pay with money orders(which is favored by fraudsters)

actually i admire paypal for its security and efficient service

its too bad they don't have any service here

so if I don't have paypal better do away with ebay

since its utterly useless to transact with auctions....

hehehe... the mode of payment, in this case paypal, is chosen by the sellers... ebay doesnt dictate what mode of payment to be used...
there was bidpay before where you can use your international credit card to charge your transactions IF the seller accepts money order...

another way is to ask the seller if he will accept western union as the payment mode... there are auctions on ebay that only accepts money order...

Exactly as Wildstar says ... the mode of payment is not dictated by eBay. It only offers Paypal as an option ... an option a lot of people use because it is so easy, not to mention secure. Why do you think that Paypal chooses not to do business in the Philippines? It's not because they were dumb and they made a "mistake" ... it's because there was so much credit card fraud in the Philippines some years back that there was no incentive to do business in the Philippines. eBay was not the only company to do this ... other companies such as GoDaddy even went so far as to block Philippine ISPs because of the fraud.

You imply that somehow Google is going to trump eBay because they are developing a PayPal alternative ... here is a bit of info ... eBay bought PayPal and was successful long before PayPal joined the company. eBay is not going away anytime soon, certainly not because of this. Perhaps if you are a really really good boy they'll let you use Google's alternative on eBay. Then again, Google probably won't be doing any transactions with Philippine users.

the sellers in ebay decides which payment to use

money order( again this is where fraudsters make their gazillions) so i don't like this option

paypal..... well there is none here

bidpay.... its gone also because of too much fraud

that is why ebay sellers insist on paypal......... which i can't use

if you really think ebay just offers paypal as an option.... because ITS THE ONLY OPTION.....

as i said paypal is secure and easy........ BUT I CAN'T USE IT.....

so here comes Google..... I think they are smart enough...... they won't commit the same mistake as PAYPAL.....

if you say there is too much fraud here..... why would GLobe telecom come up with G-cash(do you know G-cash?)

G-cash is as easy to use and very secure...... why can't the smart People at paypal think of it for the Philippines? or they just lack creative thinking?

Google with their payment system WILL trump in areas where paypal can't offer their service.... that includes the philippines......

    ebay better start thinking....

competition is very good to the consumer..... ebay thinks its the king of the hill.......... lets see when the dust settles....

don't give me the history about ebay and paypal..... because i had internet access from USC-TC CNMS..... you can count how long ago that was..... so its passe already for me..... so when there was still the mosaic browser... i was using it already

google is coming to get ebay?

what is the first thing you do when you get to ebay..... you SEARCH for the items you want.... Google is a master of search.....

so enjoy ebay..... and prepare for Gbuy..... which i think will be offered worldwide including cebu city......

yep, bidpay is back indeed... so ebay is here to stay as well? since bidpay do accept credit card payments as well...
take note though that their charges are higher than googlebase (and/or maybe paypal), hope sellers will accept bidpay... hehe
