Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
expand your musical library... i became a drummer not bec i love the drums.. timing lang gyud na mas na "at home" ko.. however, if i knew how to play any other instrument, specially piano, i would have been a pianist, or a guitarist...
The point is, the most successful drummers are the ones that consciously try to expand their musical vocabulary... they listen to a lot of stuff not bec it has complicated drum patterns but bec they love GREAT MUSIC...
It's really great to be part of a band and contribute not only drum patterns but melodic parts as well because you listen to THE music not to THE drum parts...
By the way, a producer friend of mine told me that Drummers and Bass Players make the best producers daw bec you're taught early on to listen to the other musicians in the band... however, it doesn't mean that guitarists and singers make bad producers... i just kinda noticed that my heroes in producing are drummers and bass players...
@indie, you can also try reading Dummies Guide for Drummers. It might help. I agree with Ezra, listen to metronomes for the purpose of timing.
thanks amigos!
nindut jud bitaw ipaminaw sa music as a whole and scrutinize the interaction of the different instruments as the music flows. drum and bass - agree ko ani na point na smoothang flow if diri ta magbase.
i've been playing drums since second year highschool. widow2 lang. playing the cure , Ramones , the clash, sonic youth & then to modern rock.
but karn ra ko nagkainterest to expand into some formal references (hehehe).
sakto jud kay from your inputs naka sugat ko sa menotromes, drummerworld.com, mga genres na nindut sudlan ang drums, mga great drummers , Dummies Guide ug uban pa.
karn i can assess na kuwang pa japun ako tricks and skills.
gamit bah ang moeskwela ug drums?
what's your view or experience on this?
Nindot man gyud i-train imong "inner tempo" bai.. bisag walay drumkit... all you need is a pair of sticks.. drumpad or snare drum... a metronome ... a pair of headphones unya your rudiments (rudiment sheet or bisag tab). A lot of drummers don't care much about rudiments pero it's very important para sa imong stick control. Later on man gud daghan kaayo kang ma develop nga bad habits sa imong drumming na dili na nimo ma usab.

all you need is experience and application especially when making a song... you would experienced extraction of ideas from your mind and your creative juices will flow like water melon's juice. Go for composing new songs bai... you would know later how creative you are.
Taking lessons is always an advantage.... reading music is also an advantage. Having the proper fundamentals is a good foundation para sa imong drumming.
