the way i did the animation is, first i created the "key frames" with the timing, then inserted the inbetweens afterwards. inbetweens depends on the level of movement of the character. thats where (i think) the language of the dope sheet comes to play.
tanx for showing your interest in animation bro. i would share more if i have.
haha!! that's a good choice!! always animate in twos..it saves you in manipulating your inbetweens and keys..hehe!! that's how the Warner Bros. animators animate and their technique is the best and economical well im exposed ra jd sa warnere bros. not so sa disney pero they do a compelling pose to pose style..grabe they're masters in pose to pose animation!! samot pa with excellent drawing skills!!..btaw bro i haven't grasp the exact idea sa dope sheet and yes that's the x sheet nga imong giingon..kai that's supposed to be map of everything happening in animation..from the keys to the inbetweens down to the musical timing..perhaps you could enlighten me with that..anyway you can pm me if you decide to meet up..just bring a usb i can transfer every ebook i have about animation and perhaps some cartoons as well..ako im a very huge fan of stylized animation especially UPA..heard about it?..they're the only guys who viewed animation as an art form and not just a copying of life..which disney is sooo trapped..well i don't blame him since he's a frustrated hollywood live action director which he never fulfilled.

haha. i dont really know that much about the x-sheet, gamay lang. but maybe we could share each other's thought about it and together we could know what it really means. yup i've heard of UPA. stylized animation ang ilaha. lahi rajud sa disney. me, i am open to every style, i wanna learn the depth of each style. but i also have a positive thing with stylized art and animation. naa siyay something that you could appreciate. lisod jud baya pag.come-out ug stylized. there is a stylized animation nga ganahan jud kaau ko sa pag.come out niya sa effects ay...

tried toonboom before...libog oi!..hehe!!! mas maayo pa ang flash nway perhaps i'll change my mind once i get to understand the real deal sa toonboom..and sorry wla koi laptop..hehe!!!

this one for me is a great cartoon short done by Ward Kimball..i think he's a quirky animator..i just wish that they have done something out of the disney fence..they've got so much talent that was just squandered by disney

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjHrmmFIErY TOOT WHISTLE PLUNK AND BOOM (1953)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8vBVBfEQ2Y ROOTY TOOT TOOT (1952)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNsyQDmEopw GERALD MCBOINGBOING (1953) Oscar Awardee for best animated short subject or animation

a great example of that was the guys at UPA John Hubley was one of the best people that came to animation he broadend the craft's horizons into new heights pero unfortunately Hanna-Barbera lambasted the movement into something cheap...and in my opinion they were nothing more than just hacks and businessmen who never loved animation...timing lang they got Ed Benedict who designed much of their characters..and FYI it wasn't hanna-barbera who designed the flintstones!..but Ed Benedict! still it they're all businessminded monsters who wants money..but in fairness they succeeded kai they let the real creators go wild and have a hand at the cartoons itself unlike today that execs who doesn't know anything about character design and good animation are the ones orchestrating what's the best or not..example...Shrek and its ilk...and also the latest bastardization of the animation craft is the 3d transformation of classic characters such as Dr. Seuss' creations...Even Chuck Jones didn't create a full length one hour cartoon adaptation of the Horton series because these short stories ARE meant to be cartoon shorts AND not some silly and utterly horrendous full length 3d animation with nothing more than just empty shells with pretty colors..tsk tsk tsk....

what i like about toonboom is traditional jud ang system. you will draw page by page. pero lang, you still have to know the basics,(switching pages, brush sizes, etc.) to appreciate it.

tanx sa links. nindot jud oi. i havent seen something like that these days na. the present definition of good animation is all about pretty face and pretty colors na. every creation almost looks the same. this links are really great crafts. nice!!!
haha. i agree with you about the animation business. animators cant just ignore what the execs wants man pud gud. the bosses always get what they want.. haha
i miss the shorts i used to watch almost everyday after checking the links.
