One of the most famous of spiritual fools is Mulla Nasrudin, who is especially popular in the Arabic world. The muslim mystics use stories about Nasrudin as spiritual lessons, giving him the role of either village idiot or eccentric sage. In the following story Nasrudin plays the great fool, teaching crazy wisdom to the people.
When Nasrudin was asked to speak to the congregation at the mosque, he went up to the front and asked, "Oh people, do you know what I have come to tell you?" The crowd answered, "NO."
Nasrudin then said, "If you don't know what I have come to tell you, then you are too ignorant what I was going to say." And he left the mosque. But the people knew he had great wisdom, so they invited him back the next week. This time when Nasrudin asked the congregation if they knew what he was going to tell them, the crowd answered, "Yes." "Fine," said Nasrudin, "then I don't need to waste your time. " And once again he left the mosque. But once again the people invited him back, thinking the next time they could convince him to talk. When he arrived on the following week, Nasrudin again asked the congregation if they knew what he was going to tell them. This time, half of the people answered back "Yes", and half of them answered back "No." "Fine," said Nasrudin, "then those who know should tell those who don't know, and Nasrudin left the mosque.

There was once a monk who observed all the Yoga precepts. He lived in a quiet forest hermitage. One morning he was just sitting outside on the stone bench in deep meditation, wondering at the beauty of nature, when he heard someone running. He looked and saw that it was a girl with beautiful, precious gems all over as jewelry. "What is it child?" "Swami, Swami, please help me! Someone is chasing me to kill me and rob me all of this." And without even waiting for his permission, she ran into the hermitage and hid in a corner. A few moments later, a wild terrible looking man with a dagger on his hand came rushing up. "Hey, Swami, did you see a girl come by here?" Of course a Yogi can't tell a lie or he will be violating his vow of truthfulness; isn't that so? Then what should he do? Truth must triumph. If you were the Yogi sitting there, what would you do? Bluntly tell a lie? Here's what he did.
"A young girl here?" he said. "This is a hermitage. I don't invite young girls here." "Oh, I'm sorry I disturbed you." The man ran off the other way. So, he didn't actually lie. But even if the man insisted, "Hey, tell me have you or haven't you seen her?" the Yogi can clearly say, "No." There's nothing wrong in it. It's a lie, but has to be told because telling that lie he saves three lives. Calculate for yourself.

    Solution:

If he had told the exact truth the man would have walked in, killed the girl, and taken all the things he wanted. He wouldn't simply walk away and leave an eyewitness to tell the police what happened, so he would also dispose of the Swami. And the third life? The killer himself. The police will not forget him. They will catch him, and ultimately he will be killed too.

The Hindu teacher Swami Muktananda was once asked why he didn't work miracles. He replied, "I have no need to work miracles. The circulation of blood through my body is enough."
