i think hinay ra kaau ang connection (512 kbps sa globe or PLDT) you are better off getting a reseller plan. but if you can afford a dedicated server go for one... i think you can get a decent dedicated server for about 300$/month..

Plus, you might be needing your own generator if you want to offer it commercially.. COnsidering the fact that we have an unstable power lines here in CEbu... constant brown outs...dugay pa dyud

I was thinking of using UPS backups.

My only concern with a PC running at 24/7 is the hard-disk array and the fans. These are the first ones to surrender. Perhaps there are softwares that control several disks and fans to turn and off alternatingly.

The reason why I thought of going into the web hosting business is to fund my internet subscription. This way, I can pay the rent while earning from it. Plus I have the other advantage of complete control over my server setup in terms of space and software. I was also thinking of hosting several of my own business web sites.

So maybe I'm crazy if I go ahead with it.

You can get a lets say, 100MB disk space and 2 GIG bandwith in a dual XEON 2.4Ghz (4 CPU) server with at least t1 or faster connection, connected to multiple backbone for a dollar or less a month.

With your setup, how much will you price your package? A client would of course inquire your Data Center, Server Specs and etc. before getting a package.

I've seen a UPS running for a few hours if hooked up to a truck battery. With the monitor off, I think backup times can even be extended. It's just a matter of arraying several truck batteries.

Bitaw tinuod. Mura'g resselling is the better way to go. Ulaw sa client if they know that their website is being baby-sitted by a home PC. Hehehe!

Na samot dagko na gyud ka ug gasto, mahal na baya ang battery sa truck, last ko ni palit ug battery sa akong auto i think mga 2 years ago, murag 2,500+ naman gane, wat more pa sa truck.
