1. OS - Win XP Pro
2. User Rights - Administrator
3. Shared via domain
@cloud
XP Pro ang gamit namo diri bai. As what I've mentioned in the above post, pwede man ko click sa "Do not share this folder" para dili ma shared akong mga local drives (C, D, E & F) sa network. But this sharing will appear even after rebooting. Actually, this PC was formerly used to be shared sa network, but now ako nalang ang mogamit ani I dont want to share this PC anymore.
Is there any solution para ma remove ang "Sharing and Security" option?
1. Adto ka sa network connections.
2. Select nimo ang Local Area Connection
3. Right click Properties
4. Under General Tab Uncheck File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks or better yet uninstall it.
Hope that helps. But i think that is because your in a Domain that is why your settings are control by your Domain.
@cloud, I think that is not the safe way to do.... some of the applications requires that....
@cliff, I understand your simple Goal here... the best way is to apply NTFS permission.... but before that you can examine via Computer Management.
1. Right click on your My Computer
2. Manage
3. "Shared Folders"
there's some option you can play around from it... try remove some shared folders there...
Another thing is you can apply Security Policy in your Local Computer....,
1. go to RUN
2. type "secpol.msc"
3. on your "Local Policies", click "User Rights Assignment"
you can find different interesting options there...
a. Deny access to this computer from the network.
b. Access this computer from the network
I advice you this, because even if you not share your workstation, still it can be browse via network, especially if network logon is not restricted by your Domain Administrator... and any administrative account can browse your PC....
if you want to add more strong RESTRICTION... you can apply NTFS permission....
Take note that Deny access overrides all settings....
example: in NTFS permission if you apply "DENY full control to EVERYONE" even if you make "FULL control" to any USERS still the resulting policy is DENIED.
Anyway, you can you view the "EFFECTIVE PERMISSION" tool found in your NTFS security > ADVANCE > at "Effective Permission TAB", then click "SELECT" button to examine the effective permission.
oh.... I almost forgot... EVERYONE is including you![]()
Follow these steps...
1. go to RUN
2. type "services.msc"
3. find keyword "SERVER" supports file, print, and named-pipe sharing over the network for this computer.
4. STOP the service
5. right click and refresh then check it out...
Another way...
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services.
3. Follow the steps above...
Hope it help....
