they once said that at summer of 2008 will release starcraft II. now it's almost christmas, wala pa mo-release.
No they didn't, Blizzard never announces release dates except for Wrath of the Lich King, it's the only Product they have that they announced a release date.
They never announced a release date in all of there games:
Diablo I/II/LOD
Starcraft I/BW
Warcraft I/II/III/FT
World of Warcraft/BC
only WOTLK(Wrath of the Lich King)
There is no release dates, Blizzard never gives out release dates, Everyone just speculates and assumes the release dates. The only game blizzard gives out release date ever is Wrath of the Lich King.
Anyway

STARCRAFT II TRILOGY
Wow this is huge news, StarCraft 2 will be released as a Trilogy, three seperate games after another. Each game will contain one chapter of the Single Player campaign and each episode will have its own main hero (Raynor, Kerrigan, Zeratul). They will be called:
* Wings of Liberty (Terran) ~ Terran - Sc2Pod StarCraft 2 Wiki
* Heart of the Swarm (Zerg) ~ Zerg - Sc2Pod StarCraft 2 Wiki
* Legacy of the Void (Protoss) ~ Protoss - Sc2Pod StarCraft 2 Wiki
No word on pricing or release schedule yet, but this way they can release the game without having to wait for all the single player content (which will be massive). Each single player chapter is said to have 25+ hours of gameplay, and have it's own seperate ending (no cliffhangers). The epic story of StarCraft II will span a trilogy of games, with each game’s single-player campaign focusing on a different race. The first game will go into great depth telling the tale of Jim Raynor and the terrans. Two expansion packs will continue the story, delving separately into the saga of Kerrigan and the zerg, and that of the mystic protoss. By structuring the story this way, each campaign can be substantial, lengthy, and include meaningful choices for the player. Each campaign can also include more missions (the developers are targeting 26 to 30 for the first game alone), more interactive settings for players to explore, and more pre-rendered and in-game cinematics than would have been possible within a single game. Attendees also got a see several new cinematics, including a minute of the StarCraft II intro movie and an early peek at a dream sequence related to the Queen of Blades' origin.
All multiplayer content will be included in the first release, and the next two chapters will be sold as expansion packs.
~OMG THINK ABOUT IT! STARCRAFT II IS GOING TO HAVE 2 EXPANSIONS!! ~
Each expansion could have new features, units, buildings, etc. EVEN A NEW RACE!
You don't need to buy the 2 other expansions you can still play multiplayer or battle.net, The first game contains all 3 races in Multiplayer!
