Redhat 6 or was it 7 was my first ever major distro. Cute Trinux my first ever linux. Those were the days ! Haay! I remember that I got the distro from my friend John Clark of Ce-GNU-LUG. Wow that was an awesome time. I could remember when I first installed Redhat and It was really a pain coz, I dunno if it was the CD or the CD drive but anaconda keeps bombing out on me. But seeing my first non windows computer was really really a breath of fresh air!!

All I can say Redhat is good,but eventually I had to try out other distros. For me ,after all the distros that I have tried the one that I had trusted and the one that I feel most comfortable is Debian. Debian gives you freedom which for me is whats it all about.

How much did you pay for that? Centos would be exactly the same but free as in beer.

those were the days when you have to configure your X (refreshrate/vc mem ...etc...) which is the most daunting task I encounter ... right now we still use redhat for our database since its one of the supported platform... but my desktop is centOS 5 ...

Yes,it was daunting but after all the sleepless nights . I always get the sense of satisfaction that I hacked something. Nothing can compare to it ,man! Super!
