kabuhi is not hyperacidity.
The closest English translation is volvolus, a twisted small intestine usually due to a misaligned stomach.
Rural folk in Phils have the traditional knowledge to realign the stomach by doing hilot - a gentle massage while subjecting the empty stomach to external and internal heat (hot water). City-dwellers need to get an abdominal X-ray and then surgery - a lot more expensive and at greater risk of infection.
The symptoms are a feeling that the stomach is being clutched, making you breathless, giddy, bloated and with little appetite.
If the twist is too severe then the blood supply will be cut off and death will follow within hours. Normally there is still some residual blood flow BUT it must be dealt with as an emergency.
