recently -- INTO THE WILD -- based on the story of Christopher McCandles who abandoned civilization and decided to embark on the "great Alaskan adventure" through the wilderness.. very beautiful movie!

and THE KITE RUNNER is based on the fictional novel by Khaled Hosseini..
So, yeah..they're both not based on a true story
