Though I haven't tried windows 8. Since 8.1 is coming I might consider buying it though its unclear for me because there are a lot of negative reviews about the OS and positive as well but not enough to tip the scale. So for now I'll just keep doing my research and still stick with Windows 7.

Edit: I didn't buy Windows 7 when it was first released I waited for a year to purchase the OS for it to be near perferct(well for me that is) and I have to used that sh!t of an OS Windows Vista.

Why did I not see this earlier?!!! You can shut down your Windows 8.1 PC from the "power user" menu

Usually you have to go to Charms > Settings > Power

Well, I've always programmed the Power Button of my laptop to shut down when plugged in and to sleep when mobile.

To access "power user" menu just right click on bottom left corner of screen... basically over the Start Button

If you already have Windows 8 you should be able to see the update in the Store

Using this one at home and updated my gf's windows 8 to 8.1 (Final version) last week. Amazing kaayo ni nga OS pero ang bati lang is that dili cya mu support video call sa facebook and even the desktop version of skype (using the app version in windows store). So if you have a big deal with those apps then think before updating to windows 8.1 and by the way this still does not work even in all versions of 8.1 (Preview included)

Windows 8.1 does not let u install Skype for Desktop and installing plugin for Facebook video call is also not possible. Atleast not yet I hope.
