For Ubuntu, just use the build-in gedit, it displays http code quite nicely. No need for FTP software either, just click on place, connect to server.

Why not try Ultimate Edition (Ubuntu) Live DVD? It has about half a dozen html editors. Maayo nang matry jud nimo without installing.

pabor pud ko ani, paspas siya, supported tanan basic functions sa ide, daghan language ang ma-parse niya - syntax highlighting, code folding, etc2x. supported niya mga language nga gamit para nako - c/c++ (gtk+ autocomplete naa), python, php, perl, sql, css, html. out of the box, functional ang build/execute/preview feature niya, wa nay configure2x. very flexible siya nga editor, cross-platform, plugins supported, and lastly, akong pinaka-favorite - GPL'ed siya!

btw, halos na-testingan na nako tanan known available nga editor sa linux akong di ganahan sa uban kay inig run naay load-delay pila ka-seconds tungod sa kabug-at. di pud ko ganahan anang mga WYSIWYG nga editor. di pud ko ganahan anang mga editor nga kinghanlan pa ug java, hinay sila mo-load kumpara sa native (seconds ra hinuon ang deperensya - less than a second versus 5 seconds, asa ka sa duha? it really matters labi na kung cge ka naay gi-edit, makabuang ang load-time bisan 2 seconds ra)

pero pinaka-the best kay kinghanlan kantigo ka mogamit ug editor sa cli para flexible ka, bisan nano lang gud (syntax highligting naa pud siya; man nano for more info). then kung kulangan ra nimo ang nano, proceed ka sa vi.

last try nko sa notepad++ under sa wine (1 year ago?), buggy iyang regex search & replace, wa pa pud to multiline regex support. ambot lang kaha run kung native na ba sa linux or ok na ba ang regex niya. wa pa hinuon ko kasulay niya padagan sa windows ^^

comparable ra man ang geany ug notepad++ pero di lang ko komportable kung kinghanlan pa ug wine para modagan, mangatol akong utok hehehe.

notepad++ but i heard firefox firebug is also good

firebug can edit html but cant save, it use primarily to debug website with it's dom inspector, thats why it's called firebug = firefox + debug
