the current state of the philippine music industry nowadays saddens me. all the covers, how they murder good songs, like madonna's crazy for you, and that girl who covers nice songs with an acoustic band. and now with the rip-offs. i can honestly say that we suck. hehehe.

Uso mana diha... they do renditions of popular songs... preha anang MYMP, diba? Â*Pero at least these guys asked permission, paid the publishing rights... unlike OnL where they tried to pass the song as their own without giving credit to the artists they stole it from.

DA WAN.. Like I said, si SIMON of THE CARE mismo wala kabalo. If OnL asked permission, makabalo unta ang songwriter MISMO . kwarta na gud na, and that's your liefe's work being used.

CLEM admitted na the song was presented to them... dili sila ang nag suwat "KUNO" (tingalig nagpasangil ra sila). Pero the sad thing is, dili gihapon sila mo angkon nga ilang gi bootleg ang kanta. Murag D-F#m-Em-G man tingali ang chord progression anang kantaha... there's soooo many ways to sing around it pero ila gyud gisunod ang tibuok verse and part of the chorus. Bisag ang INTRO gi sunod.... they thought na they can get away with it because not a lot of people nakadungog sa THE CARE.

DA WAN.. this is how the business goes. The person who owns the copyright is the one who gets paid... sometimes they pass this to a Publishing office (like CHERRY LANE where my bass player used to work) and these guys gets paid to handle all the pubslihing issues (endorsments, radio play, songs used in ads, etc...) where they also take a percentage or own parts of the copyright as well. RECORDING COMPANIES don't get crap sa publishing unless they own the song themselves.

In this particulat case... THE CARE still owns their songs... they got ripped off. Dili man tingali ka ma priso ug mo plagiarize ka ug kanta, in most cases, mo settle man ang artist out of court (with a very generous amount/fee/penalty). I just hope nga THE CARE would pursue the matter, gidala pa ang pangan sa "PINOY" nga kanta pero gi bootleg ra diay to.

di mn sad na sikat nang kantaha mao na ilang gigamit. hahahahahaha.. pero ang recording company anang the care unsa mna i think aware sila ana oi.. wa lang ta kahibaw dba so ok ra mo gamit as long as dili illegal. wala may angay ikaulaw ana basta mo angkon lang ang oNL na nigamit sila sa lain composition.

Ug mo adto ka sa yahoo egroups.. subscribe sa "BACK TO THE EDGE" nga egroups, ma kit-an nimo didto ang exchanges between OnL and sa mga newwave fanatics. Magkatawa lang kas ilang mga alibi. Dili gyud sila mo angkon nga ilang gi sunod ang kanta.

Wa na'y labot ang recording company sa THE CARE ana.. modawat raman na sila sa album sales. Ang royalties kay ngadto man gyud sa tag-iya sa copyright.
