I don't think so. Most people label him as a "ballhog" back then because he is the only one that can do almost everything for the young Celtics. He passes, defends, scores and even rebounds to get the Celtics rolling and answering each baskets made by the opponents. Also, Pierce is considered to be one of the most underrated superstars in the NBA.

    OTHER NEWS THAN THE CELTICS'

Houston Rockets - The representative for forward Chuck Hayes, a restricted free agent, tells FOX 26 Sports Hayes has agreed to terms with the Rockets and will continue his career in Houston. Reports have indicated that Hayes has agreed to a 4-year deal with the Rockets.

"Chuck was a critical component in the Rockets success last season. With this agreement we are thrilled we will have Chuck as part of our core for some time," Morey said via e-mail to FOX 26.

Miami Heat - Though a sign-and-trade with Golden State involving free agents Mickael Pietrus and James Posey makes sense, Miami is reluctant because it doesn't want to pay a substantial luxury tax. (Miami already is about $1 million over the threshold.)

The Heat prefers to move players already under contract for Pietrus (like Michael Doleac), pero alangan naman sad ug mosugot ang Warriors ani... Dako pa kau ron ug value si Pietrus.

Golden State - Matt Barnes is seeking a contract worth of the full midlevel exception, which is $5.3million. Baron Davis, on the other hand, can opt out his final contract after next season and look for a contract extension that could give him a bit more than what he earned.

    Back to NBA

    Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are reported to be close on signing 10-year veteran Austin Croshere. While negotiations to keep forward Matt Barnes will start over after Barnes has switched agents for the second time in two months.

As for head coach Don Nelson. Don Nelson's representative John O'Connor has met up with the Warriors team president Robert Rowell and continued to renegotiate Nelson's contract. Nelson is due $3.1M in the next two seasons but is seeking for an additional $3M guaranteed additional bonus.

... Give Nelly what he wants, he deserves it in the first place.

    Utah Jazz

Former Sacramento Kings guard Ronnie Price has signed a two-year contract with the Utah Jazz after all medical tests returned. After two years of playing with the Kings, the 6'2 Texas native is back to where he played ball during his college career, Utah Valley State College.

    Washington Wizards

Not really big names on the Wizards thus far. The Wizards recently signed second round pick Dominic McGuire to a three year deal. McGuire, picked 47th overall out of Fresno State, has impressed the team during the recent Las Vegas summer league. McGuire averaged 13.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game during his junior year at Fresno and 12 points and 6.2 rebounds a game with the Wizards last month.

Pretty solid numbers for a second rounder though.

With still only 11 players in their roster, the Wizards are still negotiating forward Andray Blatche and looking for trade options for Spanish guard Juan Carlos Navarro. The Wizards are reported that they're not open for any deals in the East for Navarro. For now, the most likely recipient will be the Memphis Grizzlies, a team which has Navarro's close friend and national team pal Pau Gasol.

    Rumors:

Cleveland looking to swap Pietrus for Pavlovic?
Cavs have explored a sign-and-trade deal with Warriors free agent Michael Pietrus. Pavlovic could be involved in that scenario. If he returns to the Cavs, he might be hard-pressed to remain in the starting lineup with the emergence of Daniel "Boobie" Gibson.

But there's a possibility the only things the Cavs do this summer is re-sign free agents Anderson Varejao and Sasha Pavlovic. Even though they want both players to return, there are no guarantees they'll be back in the fold. As previously written, the Cavs might not use their mid-level exception because they are already at the luxury-tax threshold.

    Celtics: Searching for a Center
The Boston Celtics made their roster smaller by adding a big star to their front court. Even though they gained the towering Kevin Garnett, they still need help down low. The departure of Theo Ratliff leaves the oft-injured Kendrick Perkins as the only center on the squad, and given his track record, the Celtics will have to find a reliable backup. But money is tight in Boston, so who will take a presumably short contract for short money? There is rumor that they are interested on Dikembe Mutombo?

    Houston Looking at Jermaine O'Neal?
The Houston Rockets have assembled an odd combination of talent this offseason. Is there a big deal coming down the pipe that could make sense of it all? Maybe not, but there are some interesting options out there, the Rockets are possibly offering the Pacers to make it worth Jermaine O'Neal? What kind of deal? McGrady = Oneal?

a couple of my very good friends would be very happy with this development. both are die-hard Celtics fans since the 80's and still are, of which, one actually visited the Boston Gardens recently just to be in the arena where all of their 16 NBA Championships were made.

BUT no matter how big FANS both are of the Celtics, there are no CHAMPIONS!! CHAMPIONS!! chants yet like most posters here..

I understand completely their sentiment, what with the team not having had a game (pre-season, regular season.... etc etc) together on their belt yet. a lot still has to be considered specially the often abused word: TEAMWORK...

sorry to dampen the parade of those who are riding the Boston Celtics bandwagon...
I agree to that one. And I think those people who are jumping and those who are already in the new Celtics bandwagon understand what can be done with the triple threat of Pierce/Allen/KG. Yeah... the overused word of TEAMWORK simply goes in but also the celebrated word of EXPECTATION placed itself right after the KG deal pulled through.

Daghan man jud naghatag na ug reviews about what's going to happen with the new Celtics... there are people who rank the Celtics now as the top team in the East, others are pessimistic about it that they need a year or two to become solidly title contenders. But other than that, I think GM Danny Ainge has really turned the tide to their favor.

I know most diehard Celtics fans are excited to have KG and also Ray Allen in the team, but I know a friend of mind who is very concerned about the Celtics' future financially. He is also bothered with the Big 3's ages that could be hampered with injuries and he thinks they're going to be slower than before. But, for me, I think the three of them, KG/PP/RA, are off to their biggest restart of their careers and will try to rejuvenate their title hopes that no matter what people think that they are getting old and they are getting slower than ever.

With the acquisition of KG and RA, the Boston pride has reshaped and it's up them on how to balance their abilities to blend with each other.

grabeha sa Houston og Boston nagpalig onay naman ni sila...
pero mas bintaha lang gamay ang houston kay maayo ila coach si Rick Adelman..

pero sa teamwork ra gihapon na daogon. I just dont expect these teams to shine right away coz it takes time to get the chemistry.

but come playoff time. these 2 will be legitimate contenders.. just my opinion

Mavericks sign veteran shooting guard Eddie Jones

Eddie Jones signed a two year contract with the Dallas Mavericks wherein he'll receive $1.83M in the first of the Mavs bi-annual exception. Now, Dallas still have $5.3M mid-level exception to use for another free agent acquisition. The addition of Jones will provide more depth for the Dallas bench as well as experience. Jones has a career average of 15.4 points per game for 13 seasons, and averaged a career low 7.7 points per game last season with Memphis and Miami. But with Dwyane Wade injured, Jones showed that he can still be among the leagues reliables. Jones started in 15 games for Wade and averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists, and hit 46.2% from the field and 41% from the three point area.

Will Eddie Jones be Dallas' missing link to finally end their playoffs jinx?

    Navarro, now a Grizzly

Spanish guard Juan Carlos Navarro was finally shipped to the Memphis Grizzlies by the Washington Wizards. The presence of Navarro will make the Grizzlies' backcourt a lot deeper, and in the long run a lot better. Rookie sensation Mike Conley Jr. and veteran point guard Damon Stoudamire would all share the time with the prized international star. The very good thing about Navarro being with the Grizzlies is that he'll be playing along Spain national team member and best friend Pau Gasol. Gasol and Navarro on the court together? Interesting.

    PJ Brown

Veteran forward PJ Brown has not yet decided as to play for another season or to retire. Brown spoke with Phoenix Suns GM Steve Kerr and clearly said that if he'll give it another season, he'll probably be playing for a "contender". That automatically puts the Suns into the picture and on Brown's list. Though other teams have expressed their interest for the 6'10 forward who's known for his post defense, namely Orlando, Miami, Boston and Dallas.

Diaw, Suns, and French national team

As of the moment, the French national team is still working with the Suns for an insurance policy that would allow the 6'8 Diaw to play in the upcoming European championships. The policy would protect the Suns just in case Diaw injures his back, which bothered him and the Suns last season.

Diaw is currently listed to the French team, along with San Antonio's Tony Parker, but is not practicing with the team. Diaw is badly needed by the French team.

"Without Boris we are dismembered," France coach Claude Bergeaud said. "It is around Boris that we are building our team. We are continuing to work but have no idea when the situation will be resolved."

Charles Oakley wants to play again ??

43 year old NBA veteran and former New York Knick bruiser Charles Oakley has hinted that he's still interested in playing again in the NBA. The 6'9, 245 burly power forward has said that he's attracted the interest of a number of NBA teams but just declined to name any. Two seasons ago, Larry Brown and the Knicks considered signing Oakley but he declined.

Oakley gave his thoughts about the recent NBA Finals between San Antonio and Cleveland, and criticized Cleveland too much. "Look at how bad Cleveland was in the NBA Finals," said Oakley, proving his tongue is still as sharp as his elbows. "They had big guys who couldn't move and can't shoot. They never knocked Tony Parker on his butt."

Is he suggesting that Cleveland better play like how the Knicks did against Michael Jordan and the Bulls? Cleveland better do. Other than the Cavaliers, Oakley openly criticized the Knicks, Nets and the Mavericks.

Oakley has said that he's still in great shape and could still give it maybe 20 minutes a night. He's 245, 5 pounds less than his playing weight and said that he's even in better shape than 70% or 80% of the guys in the NBA right now.
