How much does Canon pay to be a sponsor ?

May be the Sinulog foundation should use it to buy wooden barriers and better security instead of pocketing the money for themselves.

It's not that. It's matter of how money was used - how it was earmarked, budgeted and spent for the event.

The photo contest prizes given to the winners amount to:
Over-all grand prize – P100,000 + trophy
2nd Best Picture – P50,000 + trophy
3rd Best Picture – P30,000 + trophy
Total - P180,000

If 1000 photographers register at P1000 each that comes out to: P1,000,000 in registration fees.

How much goes it cost to make the Sinulog ID / Lanyard and photographer’s shirt.

How much does Canon ( and other sponsors ) pay to advertise ?

The money earned from the Photo even should go earmarked, budgeted and spent for the PHOTO event. They should provide better security for the REGISTERED Photographer and NOT allow just anyone to go into the roped off area.

The ropes are a joke. Time to invest into proper wooden barriers like they use everywhere else in the world that organizes major public events.

My point is Canon sponsors the Photographer event, so the money earned from the photography event should be spent on the photography event.

The Sinulog foundation shouldn't use the money earned for other things that don't involve photographing Sinulog.

Canon of course wants the exposure, but they support those who support Canon.

I am a Canon user for over 20 + years, so they should also give first priority to Canon users. If another sponsor wants to step up and sponsor of course they should give their users priority.

Aside from the overall grand prizes, the 10 winners in each of the 5 categories also receive cash prizes.

I can't remember the exact prize amounts now, but a few years ago, I think first, second, and third place in each category got P25k, P15k, P5k (and smaller trophies), and then 4th to 10th place get P1k each (and award certificates). So that'd be an extra P52k per category (P260k), and the cost of whatever they spend to host the awards event.

regardless on who is the freakin sponsor, walay dapat i priority, coz afaik sinulog is a public event even if commercialized na kaayo.... the best way to control jud is DESIGNATE AN AREA FOR POTOG-RAPPER
