No one ever said on the video that there's a "new way of judging the slam dunk contest" . The MIT media lab will tap a SLAM FORCE METER on the basketball net for the Slam Dunk contest , but not necessarily the force meter be the basis of judging the dunks .

This year fans will decide the winner ...

For the first time in Sprite Slam Dunk Contest history, fans have the power.
