Smith jobbed again: Stern picks Rondo for All-Stars

Whether it has been a belated maturing process, the timeline of free agency — his contract runs through next season — or the work of coach Larry Drew, Smith has been far more consistent and less petulant this year. He has been strong at both ends of the court, and in a season when he has been asked to do more because of the injury to Al Horford.

I would say it didn’t help when Smith vented to our Michael Cunningham two weeks ago about not being selected. (”“You’ve got to factor in there is a lot of politics involved. … Once you get that it’s really about politics, then nothing really surprises you. I call it ‘Nothing But Associates,’ NBA. It’s all who you know.”) But considering Stern just tabbed a guy who attacked one of his referees, that should be no worse than a push.

    Top 10 of this season's 3 pointers (3 pt %)

    1. Brandon Rush , GSW - .524
    2. Mike Miller , MIA - .518
    3. Ray Allen , BOS - .485
    4. Jordan Farmar , NJN - .467
    5. Mario Chalmers , MIA - .465 -- 3 point Shootout contestant
    6. Klay Thompson , GSW - .452
    7. Matt Bonner , SAS - .451
    7. Jeff Teague , ATL - .451
    9. Stephen Curry , GSW - .450
    10. JJ Redick , ORL - .445

So most of the players on the Top 10 probably doesn't have someone lobbying for them to be in the contest . Josh Smith claimed that no one was lobbying for him that's why he wasn't on the All-Star roster .

Contestants for this years' 3 Point Shootout Contest -- except for Chalmers

    16. Ryan Anderson , ORL - .437
    32. Anthony Morrow , NJ - .402
    54. Kevin Durant , OKC - .371
    Unranked. Kevin Love , MIN - 378
    Unranked. James Jones , .420 -- weird , I know but he's not on the list .

Unless he turned down the offer to be in this contest , the guy got snob this year is Ray Allen . At his age , he still maintains a great 3 point percentage . But no casual fans would want to see him competing at this 'hip' event now that he's old and his team is below .500 . Kevin Durant will be on this contest which make it so dumbfounded .

    Yup..

No one ever said on the video that there's a "new way of judging the slam dunk contest" . The MIT media lab will tap a SLAM FORCE METER on the basketball net for the Slam Dunk contest , but not necessarily the force meter be the basis of judging the dunks .

This year fans will decide the winner ...

For the first time in Sprite Slam Dunk Contest history, fans have the power.

That's right. Spectators at home and in the arena will decide the winner -- all part of the most socially connected All-Star Weekend yet.

Here are the three ways to cast dunk contest votes:

    1. Tweet the hashtag #SpriteSlam along with a letter corresponding to a specific dunker

    2. Through SMS text message

    3. At the NBA.com website

Yeah , I was looking at the highlights he did well . Not bad for him knowing the last time he played basketball professionally was in 1991 .
