OT: out of curiosity lang what mode do you normally use when you take a shot? is it MANUAL OR APERTURE OR THE TV? or just depending on what the situation is like?

i own a 600d and used to own a 7d but sold it and now got the 5d mark ii (24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens) but i find it more complicated? please don't laugh, ambisyosa na gyud kaayo ko mag full frame gud!

Hindi po ako Full frame user but I guess the theory is the same.
When shooting in events where your subject can be directed or they pose for you then manual is the best way to go for me.
In events where you can't always be adjusting your camera settings because you might lose the moment(ex. sports), Aperture mode is the best for me. (Got this from Scott Kelby's ebook)
    I hope this helps.

i was just asking because i had this tutor and his driving me nuts! i have read the manual and it says that if your subject is moving then you use the TV and if its portrait you can use either AV OR MANUAL but my tutor has been telling me to use the MANUAL THE WHOLE TIME!EVERYTIME! even when the subject is moving he just kept adjusting the ISO, APPERTURE AND SHUTTER SPEED. i honestly was having hard time understanding him its like its just a waste of money? why wouldn't it be? he kept changing the settings and its not like you can memorise all of them in just one go..

does anyone knows anyone who offers private tutorial in cebu?

if you say 60% av and 40%m how does that work? what mode is it?because if your put it in av the camera will set your the shutter speed right and you'll have to give the aperture but if you go manual you have to set both, aperture and shutter speed so I'm lost? how can you work on 60% av and 40%m?

Well Ma'am nitwit for my opinion its about "what you want to capture!!!". Using semi-automatic (AV, TV and P) modes are to make your life easier and knowing the numbers (F-stops, shutter speed and ISO) helps you to be creative.

I would totally agree with your tutor on using manual to learn the numbers. Like Joe Mcnally once said "Photography is not an exact science". It is not you just punch in the F-stop and shutter speed and you done.. It is a craft.

I did teach some basic digital photography workshops before and this is common for some beginners to understand how the numbers work. What I usually do is first I teach them the relationship between the numbers. Then I teach them analyzing the scene and apply appropriate exposure.

If your dropping by in Bohol in mid December drop me a message would gladly give you tips on how to shoot

thanks for the kind words sir but i won't be back in phil till some time in march next year . honestly i know its very stupid to go FF and i only know a little about the camera its just that i was so impressed and captivated of how good the photos that came out using ff camera. it looks unreal!so i thought it could be very easy turns out that its not! i guess I'm just so lucky i didn't get the 1d otherwise my husband would have killed me for wanting it so bad yet I'm a beginner.

ONT: TS SORRY FOR ASKING THESE QUESTIONS HERE,i just couldn't find another 5d mark ii thread
