While communication and spread of important information is a good thing, it can also lead to bad things when misintrepreted by stupid people.

All we know as laymen, are the following facts:

    1. This is very similar to the common cold or flu.

    2. Common cold or flu CAN KILL, esp. if the person afflicted already has other illnesses or weaknesses of the body.

    3. Most of those who died in Mexico already had other illnesses (i.e. diabetes, hypertension, etc.)

Meaning, if you are a fit, healthy individual, who regularly takes your RDA's of vitamins and minerals, all you have to do, to NOT get any colds or flu (swine or otherwise) is to wash your hands every 2 or 4 hours, avoid contact with people, avoid milling around in public places, and to avoid stressing yourself out.

So, armed with the above information, one should NOT get into a "panic-mode" over this whole swine flu business.

We are human beings...these are microorganisms. We have a brain, they have none. We can fix the problem.

i went to work yesterday on an afternoon shift. a call came in from our Medical Director wanting to speak to our Director of Medical Support, hence i transferred it. by then, our attention is called informing that among our 29 urgent centers we have 3 patients of confirmed case from 1 of our centers.

we were informed para makahimo and ma reminded mi further the universal precaution needed sa amo kaugalingon and ma try namo ug cater ang patients who are suspected with such symptoms at the earliest possible time, rather than let them sit around and mingle with other patients waiting for their turn to be seen.

hay, mura ko gipatuyok kasing gabi-e oi!!! way kaon, wa kainom tubig, wa kalingkod etc...makamatay!

Once the doctor makes the diagnosis (based on the clinical evaluation of a patient's symptoms, coupled with clinical tests), then he writes a prescription for these meds, which must be taken within 1-2 days. The Wisconsin researchers found that the woman spread the swine flu to healthcare workers at the Burlington Hospital where she was treated. They also found that teenagers who showed swine at the Walworth County Fair that year showed antibodies to the swine flu - indicating they caught the virus but did not necessarily become sick..

The 1988 case involved a woman from Burlington. She caught swine flu at the Walworth County Fair while going through the swine exhibition. The woman was eight months pregnant at the time. She was transferred to Milwaukee County Hospital in Wauwatosa and gave birth to a baby girl. The woman died four days after giving birth..

Bisan sa akong statement, wala pud ka kasabot. Pls backread beh, I said "within 1-2 days of the appearance of symptoms", na unsa man intawon ka oi. Unsaon pag diagnose kung wala nag show ug symptoms? Kung ikaw wala ka'y gibati sa imong lawas, why would you seek medical help? The flu is diagnosed through the appearance of the CLASSIC symptoms, gets nimo?

How can human infections with swine influenza be diagnosed?
To diagnose swine influenza A infection, a respiratory specimen would generally need to be collected within the first 4 to 5 days of illness (when an infected person is most likely to be shedding virus). However, some persons, especially children, may shed virus for 7 days or longer. Identification as a swine flu influenza A virus requires sending the specimen to CDC for laboratory testing.
