Soul by definition can be found in every religious beliefs... In my own perspective, it does not exists...

If you ask me if I can see my mind, my answer would be yes. The fact is that I have a brain that thinks, give signals to entire body - smell, touch, taste, feel, see - that only proves that the mind resides inside your brain. It exists only if a person utilizes it.

Soul? What would you do if loose it? If you loose your mind... people will call you crazy, a nutcase, di ba? There again, proves that your mind exists because your brain exists.

No I'm not trying to disprove your belief, but this is a forum, so in the spirit of the forum question are very natural. I don't know with other believer but my belief in God doesn't come from 'experience'; sense perception, that is why it is called belief or faith.

On the other hand you claimed to believe on what you 'experience', perhaps 'saw' your 'self' outside you physical self. I was just being curious (fingers crossed at my back hehehe) as to what makes you sure about it.

I am open really to other's belief, in fact you never find me arguing inside a thread that talks about things which is parallel to what you're 'experiencing'. None of my business...but this is a thread that talks about 'soul'. I believe each people will find it's own truth to which he/she can live there life on it...that's one purpose in life- find meanings which one can live on in this seemingly absurd world. But that doesn't mean we can't argue about it. hehehe...

By definition;
MIND is the place where we can process and reprocess informations on all knowable things.
SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS is your ability to know that you exist and that you are other person as compared another person.
CONSCIENCE is the norms and standards we have learned from our parents, schools, community, etc.
EMOTION is part of the soul that gives us the ability to appreciate something or someone whether positive or negative in nature.
Finally VOLITION some called freedom of choice. This is the place where we do our decisions in life whether it be negative or positive in nature.

Indeed the soul is in the body. And it is the real you. Your body is not you. The SOUL is the real you. The body will die and rot in the grave. The SOUL lives after death. That soul is still conscious (alive) and aware of everything when the body dies, the only problem is that it does not have the tool (the physical body) to be used for communicating the physical world - the world of the living. If you are a believer, the Bible says that we shall all be transformed into incorruptible - a glorified body just as He (Jesus Christ) has. This means that we will have an all new incorruptible body but all the same SOUL with its five areas (MIND, SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS, EMOTION, CONSCIENCE, VOLITION (freedom of choice-decision making center).

i dont have problem with the soul concept, whether in flesh or not, whether this soul has one life or not, or whether the soul is of the modern psychologist concept,,or as to sir sinyalan na wala talagang soul

and i agree w/ your text book definitions of mind,consciousness,etc, though i itched when you said its part of the soul

Bro I think you had a point there (emphasized in bold)...but as to how wa ko idea, maybe you could expound on that here. Naa man ni ground gamay, for instance ha, we tend to think that 2+5=7 is inferred from experience. It has been found that it is actually hardwired into the human brain- mathematics. This is the case of those computational gifted savants. People taught they had just extreme memory ability to recall all they come upon to read, in this case numbers. Later it has been found out that this special people doesn't merely remembers them, they used algorithms in the process..amazingly, nobody taught this computational savant anything about mathematics.

Also we tend to think that morality was an invention, but then again it has been demonstrated that morality is actually hardwired into our brain or consciousness. Without being told we know what is evil or good genetically.
