IMHO, the best way to go about in handling steep-terrains is to go with your lowest gear and apply brakes in short bursts if you're picking up momentum. AVOID prolonged applications of brakes! Prolonged application of brakes would heat-up the brake mechanisms. HOT brake systems would render it relatively useless. di na gyud na mokupot. di sad pilit.

It's my personal experience when driving throught transcentral. I have to hit a ditch to check my brakes since it is slipping. i thought i lost my brakes. The van was relatively new but how come no brakes. when i touched the tire rims, i can't touch it with bare-hands. Unsa na kaha ang disk gyud.

fyi that road going to balamban is narrow and dangerous to huge vehicles. wake up call na ni sa local officials despite the reported vehicle malfunction.
