Not a myth. It is founded on firm scientific grounds. Do your homework. Don't mislead others.
Personally, we've used this method with my wife for 10 years. Wa ju'y sipyat and dili gani regular iyang mens. But it needs discipline and strict adherence to the schedule. Another big plus for this is ug gusto na gani mabuntis, kahibalo na ang couple ug kanus-a mag aherm aron magconceive ang wife.
Other artificial methods like pills, injectables, IUD may have ill side effects.
