The purpose of upgrading the airforce is not just to defeat the rebels, if we have new planes or helicopters, like C-130 or Chinook, transporting relief goods will be easier, If we have SU 25, Harrier or the Predator Drone we can patrol our boundaries, especially the Spratlys..

Generals and Air Force personel is talking here, politicians are not allowed..

Brod, It is called Asymmetric warfare. It is a war between two belligerents whose relative military power differs significantly. The great generals from Napoleon to Rommel became succesful because of this tactic but eventualy fell victim to it.

Not everytime the big armies will win every battle. But it is always that the bigger army will win the war.

simple... we don't have budget for it right now. it's not the priority.

same reason why I asked all those who posted helos, planes, frigates etc etc to post corresponding price tags for each including maintenance/training expenses so everyone would know how CHEAP all these toys are...

Oh come on.. i joined this thread so i could share my little knowledge about planes and copters, and i know philippines cant buy this things, we are just sharing and suggesting, we are not asking the goverment to buy all these tech.

You can start your own thread about How to Modernize the Philippine Air Force or How can we buy a AC-130 Gunship.

    AC-130H: US$132.4 million

The prices of both the F-16C and Gripen have already been posted I think (18 and 40 million ea, respectively), so that leave the others to put in the price tag of their suggestions.
