nice. he got one thing wrong though, Jan. 29 is the awarding night not the official announcement of winners. I believe those two are different things.

witwhew!!!
Guys, the Sinulog photo contest is like the war in Vietnam and Afghanistan where, come to think of it, the Americans didn’t win despite their advancement. This was because the American didn’t really know the terrain, not to mention the lack of experience.
For us to win the Sinulog photo contest, we should know the terrain (where and what time to shoot). These experienced Sinulog shooters knew this by heart. They anticipated the sun light position, shadows, crowds, and even come better equipped than us. Because of their experience, they also knew the kind of photo and event that will sell to the judges. You see, except for the few really good and lucky ones who wins contest after only the 1st or 2nd year of participation, we all go through a serious process.
What we really need to do is study the winning photos, not blame the winning photographers. You probably have a winning photo which you think is unbeatable but had a similar setup to the past winning photos. Study the whims and caprices of the different judges. Consider the short judging time, which admittedly, is not humanly possible for a perfect selection. But who said life needs to be perfect?
In times when you feel so sour for not making the contest, think of the numbers of more experienced gurus of photography that didn’t make it. Think of those established names that carried bazookas of lenses, and a million worth of equipment that didn’t make it. Think of those who submitted more than 300 entries but still didn’t make it. Think of the wealthy and renowned photography club members from outside metro cebu who spent thousands for fare and accommodation just to venture into the contest but couldn’t possibly make it because of, like I said, unfamiliar terrains.
The consistent familiar names in the Sinulog set of winners are not there by chance. They are also consistent winners in other photo contests here and abroad. Believe me, these familiar names actually makes the Sinulog photo contest more challenging!
There are 3 things I would like to say in closing.
1) To Istoryans, let’s beat them next year. If not, next next year… and the next. Let’s have fun in the process. A little prayer won't hurt..
2) To the winners, it’s not your fault that you won. So congratulations to you all. No one deserves the win more than you do.
3) Finally to SFI, remove all photographer ladders from the street. It is one of the main culprits why Sinulog photographers are becoming unpopular.
Let’s fight fair and square! Amen.

kinsa may gapa uso ana tawn oi..lol

As long as there’s no addition or subtraction, PP is part of the game. The raw file will serve as proof.
Ever wonder why in the pre-digital photography era only the rich photographers become famous? It’s because they have the monopoly of post processing in their own darkrooms. If you’re aware of the existing global market for digital photos in the web, there’s now more demand for digitally processed photos. And if you want to become a priced professional photographer nowadays, digital processing is your game. Come to think of it, it’s actually an advantage for the young generation who are more inclined to the computer age than the ‘older’ even more experienced photographers. So then if you’re young, take PP as your challenge.
But then again, it's still a game of chance. Who knows the next batch of judges will now prefer minor processing over the highly processed ones? It's part of the game...
