Aw AI is a liability on defense?
mismo ako ganahan ko ma out sila sa playoffs, para naay changes sa coaching and front officeOriginally Posted by depechebox

bisan pa ug leading sa west ang NO and daug sad sila sa season versus the Nuggets... na gihapon chance ang Denver mka upset sila...
Nuggets sucks...but dey r not stupid...
never heard of it sa entire career ni AI bro.. although he's an undersized shooting guard, on the defensive end mga gagmay man pod iyang bantayan like ang mga PG sa opposing teams. and he's really doing good at it.. he leads the league in steals for how many seasons pod gud.. sorry to disagree on ur statement, super AI fan kaau ko gud katong sa Philly pa sya.Originally Posted by depechebox

When it comes to the defense of AI, he simply floats in the passing lanes. He's NOT a real on-ball defender, especially when it comes those solid and taller PGs. For that, that can cost games more than it can win games but AI makes up for it on offense. Overall, he can also be remembered as someone who was able to repeatedly become one of the leaders in the steals category (00-01 and 01-02 seasons) but does not necessarily mean he's a good defender.Originally Posted by Motownkid

If you don't mind guys, I'd like to put a bit of my own opinion of the matchup.Originally Posted by depechebox
PG matchup. I believe AI can guard Chris Paul effectively (6'0 vs 5'11) but not height advantage and steals though, AI has to bring out the defender in him. Chris Paul, on the other hand, can match up well with AI also, given his fresh legs and a court vision to effectively run his team.
Another important matchup is the frontcourt. Marcus Camby and Kenyon Martin against Tyson Chandler and David West. The Hornets are backed up well in the frontcourt depth with Chris Andersen, Julian Wright, Hilton Armstrong and Melvin Ely. The Nuggets are left with Eduardo Najera and Steven Hunter. The Nuggets do need Nene back.
Carmelo Anthony can make a HUGE difference and can cause matchup problems. Stojakovic or Peterson could do the job but Bonzi Wells is a fit to defend Melo. ON the other hand, Stojakovic, Peterson and Wells can do damage from the outside and the Nuggets would need perimeter defense to stop the probable salvo.
Off the bench. Linas Kleiza, JR Smith, Anthony Carter and Eduardo Najera for the Nuggets. The Hornets would more production from Jannero Pargo, Bonzi Wells, Chris Andersen and rookie Julian Wright.
The coach. There's a strong probability that the Nuggets could be outcoached. Given the overall improvement of the Hornets this season, Byron Scott did a great job in drawing plays and other imporant factors for his wards. Scott did a great job in guiding the New Jersey Nets in their two appearances in the NBA Finals, however, he'd fitted against George Karl, who has 16 playoff appearances.
On defense though, it's the Hornets. They are fifth in the NBA with 95.4 allowed points per game and should be a factor agains the number 1 team in points made per game, the Denver Nuggets with 110.70 ppg.
Overall, the Nuggets are hungrier and would be quite the underdogs vs. the Hornets. That would be the one of the reasons why an UPSET is probable. But in this case, the word EXCITING is fitting for this match-up. Well, at least for me.
CHRIS PAUL VS ALLEN IVERSON
Hopefully, kaning duha magkasinabot jud ug maayo.

yep correct ka bro, how many times have we seen Iverson abused in the post during crunch time.. havent you guys noticed nga most of the guards anha gyud mo agi ni Iverson.. coz he's a weak defender.Originally Posted by lunateec22

Key Word Offensive Weapon ra na si AI.. Id prefer John Stocktons defense over AI.. Stockton in not really that tall but hes is tougher and a very reliable defender during cruch time compare to him..
Last season was the turn around for the Hornets, they were playing great last season despite the fact that they were badly shorthanded. The key factor of New Orleans' success this season is their health. Last season they were an inch close in making it to the playoffs even though most of their players were sidelined with injuries. David West missed 30 games, Peja Stojakovic missed 69, Chris Paul missed 18, and Bobby Jackson missed 26.
2006-07 stats
David West -> 18.3 points, 8.3 rebounds
Chris Paul -> 17.3 points, 8.9 assists, 1.8 steals
Peja Stojakovic -> 17.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, .405 3-pt FG
Bobby Jackson -> 10.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists
Desmond Mason and Tyson Chandler were the only players who played a considerable number of games but the Hornets ended up with a 39-43 record, not really bad for a team who missed their stars in most games. Byron Scott is doing a really great job for the Hornets.
awts mao ba... never-the-less dli na pod ko AI fan since he went to the Mile High city..heheh but speaking of great guard defenders, i'd still go for Joe Dumars. :mrgreen:
awtsss... nigukod man hornets.. CP3 for MVP!!! :mrgreen: spoil the lakers' Pacific division title..
