bro puede pud ka help sa group how to become a successfull vegetarian..share lang sa imo nakat unan, daghan bya
bigenners dre and wanted to become a vegetarin
aleyson< at first medyo lisod i maintain ang diet, pero wa may lain nga makatabang nimo, ikaw ra gyud...so i think, foremost is that you decide to go vegetarian or not. once you've decided then go for it..just keep your focus. wala ko ga yoga bro...i thinks it's good, but it's just not what i believe in life.
oakboy< actually Pritikin, is a name. Dr. Nathan Pritikin...an American and probably with hindu lineage. He formulated a way of living and no meat diet, high in carbo, plant protiens, fruits... and simple exercises. I got his book in the book sale and tried reading it...i found his idea to be more palatable to my taste..so i tried it. I was desperate then about 4-5 years ago because of my unusual high blood pressure at my young age. I cannot accept what the doctor had said that "once a hypertensive, will always be a hypertensive" and so i changed doctors for 5 times already...until i found one who is not so morbid in explaining HBP. Diet was his first suggestion, and so in the same time Dr. Pritikin's book talked a lot about heart ailments brought about by the modern eating lifestyle and adapting the western diet that are rich in meat and milk products.Pritikin suggested walking as the best exercise to compliment his formula for a healthy and fit life. so go ko adto. ok naman pod ang result. In about 3 months, I lost 20 lbs. I suffered depression for a while (about 2 months or more)...but i was able to overcome it. it is good if there's somebody who could understand your what you are trying to do kay usahay ma discouraged man gud ka...some of my friends will always comment about my sudden weight loss...others would asked if i'm sick with something...worst was that someone joked at me like: "morag usa na lang ka wati ang wa pa ka pirma nimo", they think i'm really sick...that's the part that would always tempt you to go back to the old diet...but what kept me going is the thought that if i continue to back to my high meat diet (morag atkin's diet) i would be like serving my life sentence and the thought of suffering a HBP just don't tickle to my ears. so focus lang gyud ko...after 2 years na anad na lang ko sa diet, and became my way of life now..my HBP normalized, my cholesterol (HDL & LDL) are in perfect scales...etc. my doctor was amazed how i did it.
Later on I checked about Ayurveda...(hilig mag gud ko mobasa, bisan unsa regarding health and fitness books)...i found out the lifestyle and the diet more or less the same as what i've been doing. i also applied some points that are not in the Pritikin diet. Ayurveda is little bit complicated kay duna may mga tan-awon sa imong kinabuhi...(i will not deal more on that, cause it's not on my belief also) ...accordingly na-a ko na belong sa VATA, so na-a koy list of food nga restricted nako and food nga allowed. Medyo kini Hindu kaayo and dating. Wala ko nag dugay sa ayurveda kay morag structured ra kaayo...I tried reflexology for 1 year...it improved my health..dili nako dali sip-onon, na wa akong migraine headache. Then came the macrobiotic diet...it's more on seaweeds products which are high in protien. Carbo (simple sugar), nuts and seeds, fruits, simple living. Macrobiotic originated in the US by a Japanese who migrated there...so medyo may pagka japanese ang dating sa diet nila...i like their simple living style, mora ug zen monks. Then I also got some points from the SDA diet....all of these in the search for a HBP relief or if not total healing from that traitor ailment. so mo na mga bro...medyo ta-as kaayo nga litaniya! sorry lang kaayo...mixed ni akong style hindu, japanese, SDA, pinoy!
maayo ni juno makatabang ni sa grupo I hope mo apil ka sa among gi plano nga vegetarian club..kindly please send me ur number pra sa pag group txt nako ninyo..
@juno sis ko bro yup i truly believe that you are determined and dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle ma achieve man gyud nimo. wow you went through a lot sad noh. kudos to you for researching on that and eating healthy! my dad is my biggest influence on being healthy kay he's a naturo-pathologist. all his patients gyud na reverse ang ilang diabetes and high blood pressure because of just changing their lifestyle and eating habits. i just wish more people would eat more healthy these days.
i actually like the japanese food. have you heard of the book The China Study? Its a really good book. here's a sypnosis of it http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/200...e-china-study/ you would be amazed at the stuff they have in this book. i don't know where to get it here. my boss ordered it through amazon.com.
by the way, whats the SDA diet?
oakboy< bro, pmed you.
aleyson< ay..sorry sis. yes, heard about the book...but haven't read it...steve pavlina is a wonderful person...a determined guy who was able to rise from the very opposite life he's having now. i guess, the book is co authored with his wife, who running a blog for vegetarianism. the only one thing i don't like with the wife is that she's practicing astral projection...connecting with spirits...etc. but, i think the book is good, but just be vigilant that you don't fall into the astral projection idea being injected in the book topics.
SDA diet...simply no pork meat and crawling seafoods. All the rest will be similar to vegetarian diet but not pure vegan, they eat fowls and other foods derived from plants..like soya milk, tofu..etc.they use food as medicine in getting rid of some common ailments. again there's the danger of relating these all to religion (SDA) beliefs. that is why macrobiotic is more pleasing to me...kay walay religion nga gi promote ug walay politico..he he, purely great living. Macro means Big, Great...Bio means life. Cooking the food is one secret they want to reveal to those who want to follow the macrobiotic way. No use of aluminum pots, but clay or earthenware instead. cutting the vegetables in smaller sizes to get the nutrients better. no oil but blanch cooking, no salt ( the artificial kind, the iodized) but using seaweeds and rock salt...wear 100% cotton clothes..sleeping before 12 midnight. waking up early...no tv..etc...simple living lang gyud.
bro juno naka kuha gyud ka sa traditional medecine(ayurveda) of india "ayu" meaning life "veda" means knowledge. macrobiotic in my own understanding is eating any existing biotic stuff such as plants fruits, nuts legumes all natural foods except flesh of animal beings..
@juno hmmm yeah lain manang astral projection oy. murag lahi na gyud na nga level dah. there's also this other book i read by the "juiceman" Jay Kordich Live Foods - Live Bodies. Read it for my research for a juicing program. nice sad siya it has a lot of information about live enzymes and so forth.
ow i thought you meant something else by SDA. im actually adventist since birth, you adventist too or just heard about the lifestyle they are promoting? but i dont like eating gluten and other veggie meats because they are processed foods man gud. id rather have protien from veggies.
haha simple living gyud dah...
astral projection is that your spirit or soul leave your physical body and travel to the astral medium.the reason for eating vegetarian foods of this type is to avoid distortion during meditation process..so as to easily achieve the desired astral projection..
