and do u think Kwame Brown has what it takes or similar qualities especially work ethic like Pip? I don't think so! Pip is a student of the game while Kwame's mind is wandering from another planet...saonz nalang...Originally Posted by diatabz

murag dili ko agree ani da...
naglibog pud ko ani...is the league who was not emphasizing (i'm pretty sure though his generation or previous generations were defending one another like no tomorrow) or is it ONLY about MJ...Originally Posted by loginbray
my take here is MJ plays defense, most of his points in his early years in the NBA is through intercepting passes and playing the passing lanes since he doesn't have a reliable jump shot yet...however, the crowning moment of his defensive repertoire was in 1988 when he was adjudged as the NBA Defensive Player of the Year...(correct me if i'm wrong though)....
Teams has given more focus on offense rather than defense during the 80's. It's easy for teams to score 120 or 130 points per night during those times. Just like what Mike D'Antoni and the Phoenix Suns has been doing today, Doug Mue of the Denver Nuggets brought in the "run and gun" concept which led the Nuggets to average about 115 points per game during the 1980s. The Nuggets held the NBA record for scoring at least 100 points in all 82 games for a single season (1981-82). Mue's "run and gun" system gave the Nuggets a 46-36 record from a 37-45 the previous season. Other teams has developed and implied Mue's philosophy to their teams thus NBA's scoring skyrocketed during those times. Watching some classic NBA games, it would only normally take at least 10 seconds for most teams to take a shot, compared during the 90's wherein teams are more focused on set plays and defense, which I believe probably started with the Detroit Pistons and was highlighted by the New York-Chicago playoffs series."Michael Jordan started out his career when defense was not really given much emphasis."

Comparing the scoring leaders during the 80's and the 90's, many players in the 80's average to more than 25 points per game. Trailing Jordan during those times were usually Karl Malone, Clyde Drexler and even Charles Barkley and former scoring champion Dominique Wilkins who had multiple seasons wherein they averaged more than 27 points per game. Their averages were a far cry from the averages during the 90s. Not so many people can average about 25 points per season all together, even Jordan just averaged about close to 30 during those times.
Pippen was influenced by the work ethic of Jordan, cant say the same for Kobe and Kwameand do u think Kwame Brown has what it takes or similar qualities especially work ethic like Pip? During his second season with the Wizards and MJ, Kwame's numbers improved and he had more minutes on court. In fact there's one game I remember where he dropped 30 against Sacramento. Kwame Brown was awesome in highschool. Don't underestimate his potential.Originally Posted by borgy1981

parehas ra na sa Phoenix when they lost to Dallas 2 seasons ago.. wala man gud si Amare mao na pildi...
grow up guys... Kobe is an exciting player. we are still watching him as the next MJ. but so far without shaq. the lakers hasn't change, walay progress.... right now I think he's 29 he still have 6 years left to prove..
taas taas pana nga panahon... if he can win at least a single championship without shaq, then I think he can be remembered as the closest to Jordan else he will be another "Failed Jordan Heirs"
joining Vince Carter, Grant Hll, Penny Hardaway etc... but a least he got 3 rings as Shaqs sidekick...
sa voting pud MJ won 40 to 9.... 81 percent on jordan, 18 percent on kobe..
and as for Jordans achievements.. God like ang achievements.. he was named athlete of the century by ESPN>..take note dili ra basketball na ang ranking. it includes all Major Sports.. so sa Charisma nalang daan layo ra kaayo ang mga Jordan Clones..
and speaking of charisma.. the closest to Jordan when comes to charisma, no offense to kobe fans but its Grant Hill.. yeah sure kobe is much better than Hill but kobe has an attitude problem, many called him a "spoiled bratt" a very arrogant player... but as years passed he has change and little by little im starting to like the guy as player .....
just my opinion... everyone is entitled to their opionion...
Not unless the Lakers give Kobe the support he needed, he can't win a title. Crappy alibis? Nah, that is the truth. Unsa man intawn ang nakanindot anang Lakers kung wala si Bryant. Lamar Odom? Jordan got Pippen on his side, a star on his own right. And aside from Pippen, the Bulls had Ron Harper, Toni Kukoc and even Dennis Rodman for defense and Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright and BJ Armstrong during their first three peat, either way, Kobe and the Lakers are nowhere close to the 2 Chicago line-ups.mao naman gud ni ang istorya.. basulon dayon ang teamates ni kobe nga walay ayu. then ila dayon ingnon nga mas maayo ang teamates ni Jordan kaysa kang kobe blah blah blah..... those are crappy alibi's

How good MJ's teammates are?
*Scottie Pippen was able to lead Chicago to the playoffs when Jordan first retired and even managed to make it to the second round before losing to their East rival the New York Knicks.
*Ron Harper used to average about 20+ points a game with the Clippers and just averaged about 8-9 points with Chicago.
*Toni Kukoc and Brian Williams are another Bulls players who averaged in double figures yet became role players in Chicago.
*Horace Grant's scoring averages went up when he left Chicago and played for Orlando and was another big factor for the Magic who made it to the 1995 NBA Finals.
The bottom line, everybody takes a backseat when they play alongside Jordan, who won't? It's because they respect him. And Kobe and his Lakers? Layo ra kaayo. Lamar Odom? If Jordan had Pippen, Kobe had Odom, yet comparing Odom to Pip? Odom is just taller, and that's it. Jordan's teammates can stand on their own and could become stars when they're on other teams but the Lakers? Everybody would still end up on the bench except for Odom. Remove Bryant from the Lakers and for sure they'll be heading to the lottery unlike Chicago who managed to make it to the playoffs.
Jordan is obviously the better player, leader and role model compared to Kobe and even if Kobe wins more championships on his own, he's still too far from MJ, yet saying that he's got mediocre teammates is a mere alibi or an excuse? It's not, it's the truth.
crappy alibis? check out lakers' current rosters
Kwame Brown
Andrew Bynum
Brian Cook
Javaris Crittenton
Maurice Evans
Jordan Farmar
Derek Fisher
Coby Karl
Chris Mihm
Lamar Odom
Vladimir Radmanovic
Ronny Turiaf
Sasha Vujacic
Luke Walton
Because of the BRILLIANT mind of Mitch Kupchack and Jim Buss..currently they have 7 guards...now can these guys help kobe win championships?? I don't think so. Andn can jordan win a championship with lakers' current rosters?? I don't think so also.
MJ needed his teamates and phil jackson to win championships...and vice versa.
