Right you are! Anway, the oblation run is done inside the campus. UP is a bastion of freedom and expression and APO is a campus-registered group. Meaning, we can do the oblation run every year. UPians look forward to the oblation run not just because of all the balls displayed but because of what it stands for.

Luoya di'ay s La Salle-APO uy, wa di'ay ni sila kasabot unsa ning Oblation Run APO Fraternity Tradition man di'ay ni. Inferior di'ay ning mga Non-UP APO. Tsk.. Tsk.. Tsk.

it's just like saying that only UP-TGP knows more about UP campus history and TGP's reason for being.

exactly my point. if you are doing this for its true purpose, i am all for it. if you are doing this for the sake of doing it (and as lytslpr so appropriately, and sadly, points out >>>> which makes the "protest" message of the Oblation Run more worthless because it is not worth it. So nahimo na lang ni gyud ug nudists' exihibition tradition"), then it is all for naught. streaking, then, will never become stupid. maybe misguided and done for the wrong reasons, but never stupid. everything is relative. even public decency is a relative thing. if you think running naked on the streets for a cause is a case of public indecency, then i guess pardoning ex-presidents for crimes of plunder committed against the filipino people can be overlooked

however, i do get your point. and i respect that too.

u cannot compare streaking to an ex-president's pardoning...layo ra kayo nang istoryaha...hehe

mas ma compare pa nang streaking sa getting nude in the public beach or stripping totally nude in night clubs...kana mas duol2x nga comparison. they are all violation of our decency laws...even if naa ra na sa campus, still it is a public place...

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. This is a democratic country and UP is a learning institution that promotes and encourages academic freedom. I am not a member of APO, but as far as I know, not anyone from the fraternity can participate in the Oblation Run. It is considered a privilege to run, and contrary to popular belief, it is not a way to get into the fraternity. You have to be already a member to run. The Oblation Run is, I guess, APO's unique way of expressing what they feel about socio-political concerns that affect our society. It is their unique way of getting their voices heard. Too bad that not a lot of people understand it and worse, a lot sensationalize it negatively.

well, US is also a democratic country and they see it as wrong so they banned this in their campuses due to PUBLIC DECENCY ISSUES. there is no absolute freedom except drinking Absolut...hehe

probably not the state but colleges and universities are and that is their prerogative. some are even starting to ban fraternity and sorority houses in-campus.

UP has their own charter and CHED is inutile. Mao bitaw ubay-ubay ang yabag (take note dili tanan) nga gikan diha sa UP because they think they are exempted from the norms of mainstream society and when they are out of UP they wake up that the world is run by mainstream society, ma-culture shock na nuon and some will have resentments and hang ups. kuyaw baya ng bright nga daghan hang ups adto ka hagbong sa Mandaluyong ana.
