    Part 2 : FAQ

1.) Can we breed Aro at Home?

    A) The success rate is very very low, but having said that, maybe you will be the first! ^^
But seriously, a tank is not a suitable environment for Aro to breed in. They need earthen pond with the right conditions.

2.) I want to feed my Aro with pellet food but it refuse to eat them, what can I do?

    A) You will need to train them to do so. If they have been given live food all this time, they would probably not eat anything else. It is the game of patience and whether you have the heart to starve it until it gives in and eat anything you give it! Also I would start the training with fresh food rather than pallets. (By the way, I am assuming that your Aro is an Adult; Please DON’T TRY THIS WITH JUVENILES!

3.) My Aro refuse to eat after I moved it to a new tank. It is more than two weeks now, What can I do?

    A) This is normal, when Aro are moved to new environments, they will tend to stay off food for at least 2 to 3 weeks. (I have heard extreme case of 3 months!) You just need to monitor it, and please takeout uneaten food.

4.) Which is the most beautiful Asian Aro breed?

    A) I really can’t say, as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are only 3 Asian Aro varieties that are well known of their high price tag, namely RTG, CrossBack and Red Aros. My advice is that before you actually buy one; go to as many places as you can to look at the different variety to have a better feel.

5.) My Aro has a Drop eye syndrome! What can I do to rectify this problem? Why does this happen?

    A) Many people have asked me this question. I just want to point out first that this problem is not fatal in anyway but more cosmetic but having said that, everyone wants their fish to be perfect of course. ^^ please refer to earlier page on this thread on how to avoid/cure this.

6.) Can we put Plants with Aro?

    A) I don’t see why not, I have seen many nice looking Aro tank with plants in it. Just make sure you don’t include any sharp object in there that can injure your Aro.

7.) My Aro just stop eating a few days ago. I am worried now, what should I do to make it eat again?

Question 1: Have you overfeeding it? If yes, it is normal that it stops eating for a few days.
Question 2: Are there visible sign of the fish that it could be suffering from a condition?
If yes, refer earlier post on this thread (I think page 2 about deceases).
Question 3: Is the water cloudy or has strong ammonia stench? If yes, do water change; I would do this every 3-4 days for the first week or so.

The three points above is of course not exhaustive but at least you get an idea of how to start the investigation.

8.) I bought an Aro a few days back and put it into my tank. It died today. What happened?

    A) The most common cause of death here is that new tank water is not cycled sufficiently before putting in the Aro.

9.) The water get cloudy very fast, why does this happen? I thought that Aro are pretty cleaned fish.

    A) There are three common causes for this condition:
    1) Overcrowded tank = I would remove some of the tank mates in this case.
    2) Uneaten food left in tank = as always please remove uneaten food.
    3) Filter is not strong enough = you need a stronger filter to help reduce the pollution.

10.) I bought a 5 inch Aro a few days back. It is dead now, what happen?

    A) It is not recommended to buy a juvenile smaller than 5-7 inch long as the mortality rate is much higher. They are just more susceptible stress / diseases at this young tender age. I know they cost less the younger they are but personally, I just feel it is not worth it. Just bear this in mind if you are considering buying one.

    END ^^
