If I have to describe Coron in one word..... it would be "paradise". With the advent of promos from Cebu Pacific, it is now very easy and cheap to be at Coron (thru Busuanga Airport or YKR Airport). The rate of Cebu - Busuanga is a catchy deal but it would be better if you take the route CEB-MLA-Busuanga connection if you are on a very tight budget.
The lakes, lagoons, and beaches here in Coron is on another level not comparable in any way to Cebu, Boracay, Batangas, and Mindoro. It is purely nature at its best.
The boat rental for island hopping would only cost you from 1500-2000Php (all-in not per head). The owner of the boat went with me on my trip, and she was more of a tourist like me because it was her first time to check out Barracuda Lake, Twin Lagoon, and some other sites we went in. The first lake that we visited was the Kayangan Lake. In Kayangan entrance there is an entrance fee of 200Php/head for Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, and the Twin Lagoon. You will be given a brief lecture about the island of four lakes.
I was scheduled to go around some interesting and not so visited site around Coron if not only for a slight badluck that struck our bangka. After visiting Barracuda Lake which was our second sight, our propeller got tangled with a rope that has no marker and sadly it was broken and lost into the deep. I tried to snorkel around and also ask help from visiting tourists to dive unto the deep but to no avail. We have to be pulled by the boat the foreigners boarded to Siete Picados which is nearer to Coron so that we may get another boat to continue my journey thus loosing some travel time.
Siete Picados is a paradise for snorkelers. You dont have to look for fishes but the fishes will look for you. Fish feeding is the best thing to do while snorkeling but do not cover the bread with your hand because the fishes will take a cute bite at your hand. The next site we visited was the Twin Lagoon. It is also a great place to swim around. You have to go under a cave in order to get to the other side of the lagoon. I swam all the way across the second lagoon to get to the shoreline to take photos (a crazy thing I did again) with an ice bucket where my camera was placed. I have to make sure that the ice bucket stay afloat or goodbye Nikon. Then after the lagoon we dropby a beach with a very soft whitesand. It has great rock formations in and around that beach. Then we just went to check other sites or dive spots wherein we passed by this sunken Japanese navy vessel about a couple of meters below us.
Too bad time was running out and we just made a hit and run. I will be back to check it out soon
