CALLTEK made sure that there will be no more winless season for them, pulling off a low-scoring 42-30 win over Vector BPO for a good start in the 6th Inter-BPO Basketball Tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.
Calltek went through a horrendous experience last year when it was eliminated without winning a single game in six games.
Mark Louise Gellez was the catalyst of Calltek's morale-boosting win, finishing with 17 points, two steals, two assists and one rebound.
Noah Espinoza scored 13 points for Vector, whose massive offensive struggle heavily hurt its chances of making an impressive debut in the annual league.
Meanwhile, powerhouse teams Teletech Titans and defending champion Convergys lived up to their lofty billings by scoring contrasting wins.
The Titans claimed the early solo lead by edging Wipro, 69-68, while Convergys started its title-retention bid with a 59-44 routing of Lexmark.
Lourenz Limpangog, Erwin Abellanosa and Laurenz Sultan combined for 42 points to lead the Titans, who now have 2-0 (win-loss) record. /EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
