slice of you

everything is running
smoothly
as it should be
as it were
i was lonely
doing TV, doing the laundry
doing breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon snacks
desert.
then i stop
and u start
running a slow jog through my memory
stale, rough, lurching, tasting of yesterday
tears that dont need shedding
songs that dont need singing
--its in the air. the sun streaming through the windows
slicing slants on the floor
that reminds me
rain is for when you reached out to touch somebody
and your fingers clutch empty
Space.

I am just thinking aloud.

There is an annual workshop called Cornelio Faigao Writers Workshop coordinated from here by Dr. Resil Mojares and Judge Simeon Dumdum Jr., both are known nationally and published by class-A publications.

Application is very competitive. But I am sure you very well qualify.

The Faigao workshop annually gathers most writers of note in various parts of the country and in a roundtable discuss new developments in the discipline of writing. Cornelio Faigao is the late patriarch of the Faigao writing family in Cebu. He is survived by, among others, Bataan (now into publishing of literary books in Aspen, Colorado) and Linda (a highly respected and established writer in off-Broadway, New York City.

Participating in a Faigao conclave is as good as published.

old trees and telephone lines
houses and cars, all night burger joints
steel and chrome, the moon shyly shines
on. Running beside me like a crazy phantom
new towns and old rounds
familiar landscapes from behind the tinted window
50 kilometers more to reach city so-and-so
aimless, formless, but not entirely artless.
brittle leaves scatter at my wake
the moon is still abroad, following me.
all night rides in the countryside
calm and soothe me
before they unruffle. my mind in a tortous route
dizzying swoon, purposeless trip.
i drive past your place. breathe the air that you breathed out a minute before
did you cut the grass today, or sheared the old leaves away
swept the yard clean or set up the barbeque grill?
been to shut the gate, said sorry for being late.
glanced out from your porch while listening to the news
did you feel me passing by
or was i just another highway sigh?

i lurk inside your mind
and i know you're aware of me
you just ignore me
but that won't help you--
let go and free those thoughts
for things will be easier
just wait and see
you'll breathe normally--
such strong convictions my friend
but can you really resist me?
no need to hurry

once again im here at your feet
at your restless, nevertherealwaysout feet
you bump up things from the last page and the last chapter

you steal into every unguarded moment

a twelve inch goose out to be shot
and woken up by a train of unthoughts

scatter me into a million uncohesive shards
that when i look at me

and another-they know each other
but cant quite agree on whatever.

i see the glistening yellow sun breaking throw the old dying avocado tree.. as the new born leaves dance in the musical wind..

i hear the visitor birds waking up from a deep dreamful, slumber and the sound of the discolored dead leaves blowing in the wind..

i smell freshly cut grass and gasoline that's still dangles in the air.. i smell the new rosebud's blossom as if they were a gift from God..

i open the door, touched my idle, dog (mozart) lying in front of the door.. as my feet touched the freezing, cold wet grass covered with dew..

ahhhh.. it's a beautiful day..
