Michael Jordan was asked about being the greatest player ever, and his answer to that is false... bec. he never have the opportunity to compete against Jerry West and Oscar Robertson to determine who's the best guard ever..

mao ni kuwang sa mga new heirs ni MJ..... BEING DOWN TO EARTH...

Jordan will always be Jordan, there's no point comparing other players to him instead they must build up on their own image, their own legacy

.. it's 2007 and some people are still talking about Chamberlain and Bird and Magic Johnson. How much more Micheal Jordan. anyway, talking about heirs, being not THE NEXT MJ, but heir to his ability to carry the NBA on his shoulders, i would say Kobe Bryant. People are giving more attention to Kobe's life than Lebron. And as to failed heirs. Penny Hardaway and Vince Carter would fit the bill.

Oh my! How I loved MJ! I even had to save every penny I had para lang makapalit ug Nike Air when I was in grade school. LOL!

When Jordan was with the Bulls, that was the golden era of basketball. He was a true leader but he was humble and self-effacing. That combination of Phil Jackson, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Michael Jordan was the best! Rodman, the wild child that he was, always listened to Jordan...and MJ was the only person who could reel Rodman in. He was the most respected person in the NBA, not only because of his skills but also because of his character. He had heart. This is what most players lack today.

The most memorable commercial he ever did for Nike (for me) was that one where he was coming out of the locker (in slow motion) and he said the words: I failed over and over and over again in my life...and that's why I succeed.

    MJ forever! woohoo!

I have to agree with Dorothea real good, MJ thought beyond himself because he knew who he was..his phenomenon stretched in all corners of the world and transcended beyond basketball, MJ was character personified, he wasn't perfect but he lived to the fullest while he was in the limelight...he is truly inspiring...and look at how well he influenced his teammates, many of them living succesful careers outside the hardcourt.

a player can be judge by its greatness....... and greatness means winning "championships" and winning "MVP's... and at the same time being the leader of the team not a sidekick.

    1. in the 80's - you've got magic and bird both won championships and MVP's
    2. in the 90's - you've got MJ and Hakeem Olajuwon but mostly dominated by MJ.
    3. 2000's - MJ passed his throne to shaq. winning four championships and an MVP ring
    4. now - Shaq has passed his throne to Tim Duncan...

no offense to Kobe, AI, Carter etc. fans but I don't really see them as an elite.. they are great. but when compared to those above........hmmmmmm

Winning championships and MVP's are not exclusive barometers of greatness..Winning respect is, Rodman has won championships and led the league in rebounding numerous times but many abhor him, Reggie Miller never wore an NBA ring but many admire the man..and even Dikembe Mutombo, because of his soft heart for helping children in his homeland, he gets a great deal of respect among NBA players and off the basketball court..

I think I should change my post to "My list of elite players" bec. there are tons of great players out there....... in include's those names you've mention, even scottie pippen is great..

pero kung i compare gyud nimo sila sa ila achievements to those persons i've mentioned above. lahi gyud..... there's something about them, their presence on the court their dominance, their leadership as well as their influence to their teamates....

that's why I like Tim Duncan. the guys more on substance....... I can't think of any other player better than "Tim Duncan" right now.

yeah kobe is getting the hype that poularity thing etc. hey I love watching Kobe Bryant but if you look at those years who really dominates in this new millinium , you can't really think of other names than Tim and Shaq......... but the truth is he(kobe) aint better than Tim Duncan.. Tim's and influence to his teamates is something......

have you guy's wonder how the spurs keep a low profile attitude yet they're are the most dominant team today.. you may not see it on paper, but come game time they beat the best of the best........ its all bec. of Tim Duncan. his presence alone is something.
