Mayor says he’ll wage election just like Aquino

LIKE President Benigno Aquino III, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said his team is capable of running a campaign without ample funds.

While money is a political necessity, Rama said the real election machinery runs on the support of the people.

Rama, however, clarified that money is the least of his campaign team’s concerns because “purity of heart and good intentions” are what matters.

“Whoever thought that Noynoy will become the president? I was there when we joined the Liberal Party and (Department of Transportation and Communication Secretary) Mar Roxas said the party cannot assure funding. The rest is history, I become the mayor...,” said Rama.

News of Rama supposedly getting the support of the Liberal Party (LP) also came from an unlikely source.

A status message on the Facebook account of “Tomas Osmeña” stated that the Liberal Party has already thrown its support behind the incumbent mayor.

But Rep. Tomas Osmeña told Sun.Star Cebu that the account that bore his name was not his.

“No. That's disinformation. Anyway, I don't think about it so I'm surprised,” Rep. Osmeña said.

The Facebook message read, “Liberal Party will support Rama in 2013: I will not buckle down. I am prepared to go it alone. I have never depended on other people for my election. I will chart my own destiny.”

The message was deleted yesterday afternoon.

Another report involving the Liberal Party is the plan to unify it with Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia’s One Cebu Party.

Bogo City Mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr. called the report “a booby trap,” adding that unity between the two parties is “impossible.”

Tan-awa unsa nay nahitabo sa Cebu karon... 21B no entry na jud sa Jones-Colon area ky gisunod ni Rama ang style ni Tommy. Nibaws pod si Cortes, ang garbage trucks sa Cebu City, dili na paagi-on sa hiway mandaue. Lately ang mayor napod sa Cordova and Lapulapu ang nisunod ana nga style. Gilisod2x npod ni Radaza ang commuters nga taga Cordova.

In short Tommy has been a bad example lately. Sobra ra pod na iyang "dumot" ky personal na kaayo. Mas girl pa siya ug binuhatan kysa ni Gwen Garcia. Angay na sila pareson ni Willie Revillame... "If you are truly my ally/friend, my enemies should be your enemies too".

Talking of 21B jeepneys.. Funny how Osmena sided with the jeepney drivers when Rama gave the go signal to ban 21B jeeps to enter Colon. To think nga siya jud nagsugod ana nga idea. Pwerteng welga atong mga drivers sa Cebu City hall during his time. Now, look, he turned 360 deg. just to side the drivers this time! Is it compassion? I don't think so.
