IMHO

Taxi operators has no choice but to increase, and I think most of them don't want this to happen.

Increasing a taxi fare will make it their worst problem, they will get lesser commuters considering how many taxi's are here in Cebu, those drivers will suffer from the consequences.

If there is something need to change, it is the Oil deregulation laws, it permits the oil companies to freely increase their prices that led to the increase of other basic commodities and resulted to economic crisis.

Government should take hold again either one of the big three to be able control the competition among oil companies. If the pricing is controlled, other companies will eventually follow due to competition

i think way back in the Marcos era, there was this seed fund set aside by govt to answer for the increases in oil prices para lang ma maintain ang prices dri sa ato. meaning if mu saka ang price, ang govt mu shoulder sa increase in behalf of the oil companies para maintain ra oil prices locally. but sad to say, this fund became a source of corruption so mao to na scrap...
