Cebu, Misamis Occidental now top tourist destinations

Boracay Island, the perennial No. 1 tourist spot in the Philippines, has slipped in the most recent ranking of the country’s leading travel destinations.

Cebu and Misamis Occidental are now considered the new prime destinations, dislodging Boracay Island in Aklan province, the Department of Tourism (DOT) reported Friday.

Data from the DOT showed that Cebu province in Central Visayas topped the list of tourist destinations in the country, with a total of over 748,006 foreign and local visitors.

The province of Misamis Occidental emerged a surprise second with 526,367 tourists, while the traditionally more popular Baguio City in the north ranked third with 441,863 travelers.

Misamis Occidental is known for its beautiful waters and bountiful fish and seafood for export. Layawan River in Oroquieta City is a constant recipient of the national environmental award, Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran, as Cleanest Inland Body of Water.

There is nothing wrong with being loyal to where you were born. Let's just avoid from low ball comments & flaming that results in unnecessary arguments. If mulalis man ta, kanang naay baroganan ug naa tay points na i discuss. There are a lot of threads here sa destinations that are turning out to be OT generators.

although davao nindot man pud suroyan pero
cebu jud mas nindot....
