    Mao na ang problema kay we always jump into conclusion without any facts presented.

    Mr JunMar, sorry mga bulok siguro to akong mga maestra sa elementary. The fact was, we were taught Tagalog in Filipino subjects. Ikaw diay Mr JunMar, adtong elementary ka, gi unsa pag tudlo sa teacher ang Filipino subject? Did she teach you Filipino in Tagalog? or Ilonggo? or Waray? or Chavacano?

    @victor3:

    That's why I said we have to revise it, not totally abolish and remove it in the curriculum, maybe in college pwede siguro. Aside from the pangngalan, pantukoy, pandiwa and all the other pans- out there, I also learned Ibong Adarna and Florante at Laura in my Filipino subject in high school. As I said before, it gives us a sense of identity, it makes us proud of being Filipinos and who we are. True enough wala'y gamit when it comes to our careers (not unless if one becomes a Filipino teacher), but at least somehow we've got something that we're proud in, aside from the sense of identity, it also gives us a sense of nationalism since we know that we've got something that we can be proud of, where would we learn about Filipino arts like Ibong Adarna and Florante at Laura kung wala ang Filipino nga subject.

    I suggest that Filipino history should also be included or merged with the Filipino subject to lessen the subjects, after all it's all about Filipinos and the Philippines.

    Tagalog/Filipino is the lingua franca of the country. When you go outside the Visayan region, there is a need for a common language for people of various ethnic groups within the country to communicate. Hence there is a practical need to learn it.

    Btw, history as a subject is essential because we need to learn the lessons of the past to ensure we don't make the same mistakes again.

    It is not in the mastery and fluency of the English language that serves as basis as to how smart or intelligent a person is.
