guys,

im planning to start basic obedience to our 3 mos old GSD, i will brim him to our room para walay distraction kaau..problem is he is so hyper active, he love to play most and wont be attentive sa session..any advise how to approach such..

My advise is to establish yourself first as the Pack leader prior to any trainings done. There are so many reading articles and youtube videos on how to be a pack leader. Basic obedience will then follow. You can never train a dog unless he/she thinks you are the leader of the pack. There is a German Shepherd Dog Show this Aug. 22 at UP Lahug from 830am to 3pm. Be there to meet other GSD hobbyist and eventually join the Central Visayas German Shepherd Dog Association (CVGSDA) to learn more about the breed.

for GSDs whats better a neck leash or shoulder harness..

im currently on a neck type harness..pero murag ma goul man ko usahay ky its seems the puppy cant breath properly during leash walking...he is still 2.5 mos but he is strong enough to resist your force..especially on our return route na familiar na xa..sus!! mo attempt jud to lead the way..nya ako man jud i restrain, nga he would always be beside me..mo tendency naa jud pressure somewhere sa throat..ma feel nako na lisod xa breath..im planning to shift to shoulder type sad..is there any problems or issues sa ana na type, basin sad bone dislocation or deformities nya pud...

@trazee: allow me to answr it bai.i suggest u use a light flat,buckle collar or a soft nylon or leather collar suitable for puppies.dont used a harness on ur pup coz the pressure of the harness when ur dog pulls,is in the its spine & by this tym all ur pup's bones (including its spine) is still very soft,adding pressure to it could basically cause problems.also,if u use a harness,u tend to have no control of ur pup during walks & could basically promote pulling behavior which u will have a difficulty correcting later on.

what color is this? di man gud ko familiar sa colors sa GSD hehe..

@trazee: that's a SABLE colored GSD.sables' (or agouti) is the dominant color sa breed.depending on heredity,these color varied from light,'washed out' colors to darker shades (most common in working lines).

when does GSD shed its coat? naa bay pattern ana..or its constantly shedding all year round..my 3 mos old pup seems starting to shed of its coat..i noticed it about 4 days ago..ako xa gi kugos, nahh grabe namilit sa ako shirts ang hairs hehe..di man ni ingon ani about a few weeks ago..is it a sign that he is shedding?
