Pacquiao feels like he’s 25 again

HOLLYWOOD—The glow on his face, the spring in his legs, and the sting of his punches are back—tell-tale signs that Manny Pacquiao is feeling young once again.
“I’m still thinking I’m 25, 26 years old,” declared a smiling Pacquiao, who’s actually 33, before a throng of media at the Wild Card Gym here Wednesday afternoon (Thursday in Manila) to watch him work out with trainer Freddie Roach.
Beneath Pacquiao’s relax appearance, however, is a fighter determined to woo back doubters unimpressed with his close majority decision win over Juan Manuel Marquez last November.
“It (an impressive victory) is really important because, of course, everybody knows my last fight was very close,” said Pacquiao, who slowly circled the ring to answer questions in Filipino, English and Spanish.
“With God’s grace and strength I will win the fight (against Timothy Bradley on June 9),” said Pacquiao, who refused to predict a knockout. “It’s God’s will (if it comes).”
Roach, however, believes a knockout is looming when Pacquiao defends his WBO welterweight crown against Bradley.
“Somewhere along the way the knockout will come,” said Roach, who belittled Bradley’s prediction of a knockout victory.
“He’s never been a puncher and he’ll never be one,” Roach said. “Punchers are born not made.”
“He (Bradley) is so slow and Manny is so fast, it’s going to be like night and day,” added Roach.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum also revealed that ticket sales for the bout are “really rolling” and are “going through the roof.”
The 80-year-old Arum, already in boxing’s Hall of Fame, said out of 16,000 tickets only 1,500 are left

Manny Pacquiao v Tim Bradley: Ricky Hatton says American's 'slick and tidy' style will trouble Filipino star
Ricky Hatton believes Timothy Bradley will cause Manny Pacquiao problems with his "slick and tidy" style when they meet on June 9 in Las Vegas.

The former two-weight world champion from Manchester, now a promoter, has also added his view to the cause that boxing should eradicate drug cheats.
“Manny Pacquiao is the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world and he goes into this fight as the favourite but Timothy Bradley is a very slick and tidy boxer so this isn’t going to be an easy fight for him.

“Against Junior Witter we saw how well schooled Bradley was and how he was able to figure out his style so quickly so I think he will cause Pacquiao some problems.”
“I think style wise this could be an even better matchup than the recent fight between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto. Mayweather is exceptional defensively and makes you miss but Pacquiao is a lot more exciting and when you put him in with Bradley style wise it makes for a great fight.”
“Manny needs to come back with a big performance after the fight with Marquez which many thought he lost, myself included.
“Fighters who have a good defence and are counter punchers are those that have caused Manny the most problems. I think Bradley is going to use his boxing ability and box on the back foot and that’s where he’s going to cause Manny a few problems.”
“Bradley will need to have more than just one game plan going into this fight. Everyone is expecting Manny Pacquiao to blast Bradley out but I don’t think it will be easy. I expect Manny to win but it will be an exciting fight.”
On drug testing in boxing, Hatton added: “There should be more stringent tests in sport, and especially in boxing. If you’re going to take performance enhancing drugs in order to be able to punch someone harder and to do more damage that surely can’t be right. This is a sport which is brutal where you put your health and life on the line and you can’t allow someone to take something which allows them to hit harder, or faster, or more explosive – it’s absolutely criminal,”
“Nobody should listen to rumours but I heard a lot knocking about when I was in the gyms in Las Vegas when I was training for several of my fights, in the last few weeks it seems the rumours are starting to become true.

Performance -enhancing drugs my a**......Well I guess he should take that in PACMAN fight coz he needed it more than PAC did..Maybe he will ask his trainer way back then which is we know who that was and said to his trainer, "Go get me some steroids OLD FLOYD coz I really needed this... PAC is so strong maybe he will knock me out in 2nd round".And it really happened.....hahahhahaha...

Bradley pesky image fires up Pacquiao

LOS ANGELES – Manny Pacquiao wasn’t hallucinating when he said Saturday he was seeing images of Timothy Bradley inside the Wild Card Gym.

He just wanted to have fun.

“Nakikita ko mukha ni Bradley (I can see Bradley’s face),” said Pacquiao as he worked the speed ball during the latter part of his two-hour workout.

Pacquiao hit the ball so hard like he wanted to rip it off the wall.

He must have felt the same during a five-round sparring session against Russian Ruslan Provodnikov. They went at it almost non-stop and all out.

Pacquiao was hit with a low blow, halting the action. He was also pinned and tagged hard against the corner, but each time he managed to get out and return the favor.

But overall, Pacquiao was in a jolly mood in training. He sang to the tune of Apo Hiking Society’s “Pumapatak Na Naman Ang Ulan” as he walked around.

The boxer who hasn’t lost a fight since losing to Erik Morales in March of 2005 is all fired up for his June 9 battle with Bradley at the MGM Grand

“I’m sick of training I (can) fight tomorrow. I (can) fight tonight,” said Bradley, bouncing around some track oval like a collegiate star.

When Pacquiao is happy, Freddie Roach is happy.

Pacquiao faced the giant mirror and shadow-boxed as he cooled down. Then he noticed the presence of Pinoy scribes, their eyes glued on the boxer.

    “Relax lang kayo,” said Pacquiao.

On the other side of the fence, Bradley continued to work harder and harder for the biggest fight of his life, and said he’s ready to rumble as well.

In the third episode of HBO’s 24/7, Bradley said he was done with training, and perhaps tired of it.
He has maintained a strict vegetarian diet.

“I train like no other,” said Bradley who would sleep at the gym if that’s what it would take for him to win.

“Fights are won in the gym,” he said
