^ single drive configuration ra gamit nako sa FreeNAS bro... wala nako mag RAID (before, nag RAID ko sa akoang main FreeNAS... CPU: G530T, mem: 8GB (2 x 4 GB DDR3 modules) and intel Gigabit NIC... desktop HDD ra gamit anko... 2 x 2 TB Toshiba... ok ra gyud kaayo ang performance pero, sayangan man ko's capacity sa isa... so, akoang gibuhat, gi single drive nko sila para magamit ang full capacity sa duha ka drives... currently, naka 6 TB na ang main FreeNAS server...

ang mga important files, akoang gi back-up-pan sa lain NAS pud...

about sa WD Red, nice gud unta kaayo bro pero, mahal man... hehehe... ok ra ang Green but, since hinay man ni sya ug speed, ang actual performance nya compared sa 7200 rpm drive, in this comparison, sa akoang gamit na Toshiba HDDs kay hinay pud... like kun ang speed (the same file size) sa Toshiba kay 100+ MB/sec... ang sa WD Green kay naa ra sa 70 ~ 80+ MB/sec... on a GB network using the same FreeNAS server...

I did not know mahal di-ay ang RED compared to those GREEN ones.

and since FreeNAS man gud ako nakit-an sa imo post..., then na-a dayon sa ako utok ang RED HDD's kay designed daw for NAS kaning drives..., not knowing its much more expensive di-ay!? ^_^

mao gyud bro... kaning WD Green baya kay ok kaayo ni sya for a storage device lang gyud on both internal and external. ang isa aning 1 TB na gigamit nko kay gikan ni's akoang WD Element 3.5" external drive. last 2009 (Feb time frame) pa ni nko na palit diri and until now, 6 yrs na sya, just like new lang gihapon ang performance nya. mamatay ni sila kun i-RAID. sige-han ni'g drop sa pool or even gani himo-on ug OS drive... pero, corrected na ni sa firmware... pwede ra pud saka-an ang time para matulog sya gamit sa WD application (limot ko's name)...

for an storage drive, mo function raman ni sila kun gamiton, the WD Green or any Green HDD from the other manufacturers is more than enough if the speed is not the priority... on these drives, storage size and power consumption is the top priority man...
