nice bai! you didn't audition the XC? I personally think its the best of the Audeze line. Also i think the HD800 is very picky and deserves a true desktop amp to really show its true colors. Many portable amps may have enough "power" but the "synergy" just isn't there.

I really don' t understand becoz even the HD600 didn't sound right. The HD650 at home didn't sound that way driven by the PB2/X3, really big difference i mean.
Could it also be perhaps that the transport we used was a newly opened unit?
However the LCD-X sounded so nice on the DX90.
I will see how the HD650 will sound on this transport once I'm back home. I hope flights won't be csncelled tomorrow
I think the shortest path to audio heaven is via the LCD-X without burning both holes of the pocket. Initially that is. Then one gets dissatisfied and the itch begins again.
Have you auditioned the LCD-X & the LCD-2? I wonder hw the 28k difference sounds.
