Look at you--you're participating in a forum, running on a server, over the internet, developed by DARPA, on computers that have a lineage stretching back to the very first transistors vacuum tubes, all powered by an intellectual revolution (and NOT a religious revolution) that began in the 18th and 19th centuries (by scientists and engineers WHO CHALLENGED mysticism with rationality.
You are using the very tools made by people who CHALLENGE your line of thinking, and yet you choose to condemn it.
You're biting the hand that feeds you. And then you dare tell me nga "twisted" akong huna-huna.

I liken art (modern or antiquated) as something similar to the emperor's new clothes. Baliktad lang ta ron. People today "appreciate" the old works of past artists while some people in their time mocked them.
The ironic thing is that modern people who collect and promote these works as a way of saying it's the "emperor's new clothes". Saying to others that "you don't appreciate" art is like the Emperor saying that one is a fool because he doesn't see his new clothes.
Seriously, guys, art is subjective. Mao gani "appreciation" and not a science experiment where you're all required to do the same thing and expect to yield the same thing.
I guess when some people were offended by this guy's work it was just the same as saying the emperor has no clothes.
That is why there is what we call RESPONSIBILITY .
Just because there is FREEDOM of SPEECH per se , we can say what we want .
Same thing with the RIGHTS of these so called artist . Just because it is called a right doesnt mean you can step on anyones toes .
Like what RODSKY was saying , although bali man tuod ... ang artist unta ang ni adto sa simbahan if he wants to make a statement about religion by single outing Christians . Ngano tua man siya sa CCP ?
Appreciation comes within , but it doesnt constitute that because you dont like the art doesnt mean you got OFFENDED .
And another question to all of you :
Na APPRECIATE ba ninyo ang taste sa ARTWORKS sa artist na atong subject diri karon sa thread ?

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is a government entity.
We like to think of our country's government as a democracy.
A democracy clearly establishes the separation of church and state.
As such, the church cannot impose sanctions against CCP--doing this would be a violation of the principle of the separation of church and state and thus a violation of one of the basic tenets for a democracy. In fact, the church cannot even give claim to a 'blasphemic' act considering the act wasn't done in a place sacred to whatever denomination or faith.
Another important fact that people have to understand--the CCP didn't close down the exhibit because it "bowed" to the pressure of the church--the CCP close it down to PROTECT the installation from vandalism from errant members of the public (mostly irate Catholics).
The greater injustice here, is what our president has done, by sanctioning the closure with his "blessings" and thus inadvertently exercised blatant censorship, thus violating freedom of expression.
Some have, some haven't. But that's not the issue--the issue is that rationalism gives you what you have now in front of you, the means to post your ideas here, in this forum, NOT mysticism (such as the one that your religion promotes).
I'll take your "twisted mind" comment as a compliment Thank you.
