OT: Kita ko sa personal ining duha si Janson and Burden. I think Burden is much prettier than Janson. Just my choice.

I think the Burdens know that there is really something going on aside from the texter's choice award scam which probably includes prominent people and they want that uncovered.
Tinuod biya na simple ragyud kaayo ang mistake ni Mr. Bollozos but why was there no one who prevented or corrected that from happening right away?
I also don't think that they are that shallow na they are after the cellphone or incentives since they returned the awards right away. Especially coming from a prominent/very well-off family who can easily afford a thousand high-end cellphones. Timing lang that those organizers messed with a contingent who has very supportive family.
But I believe na tandog ila(Burden's) pride pag complain nila and wala sila gi tagad. Especially black and white kaayo ni daog si Ms. Burden and samot na gi insulto pa sila sa taga globe pagsulti na "Globe chooses the winner", hello, "Texter's choice award" the title speaks for itself on who should select the winner. This is already personal to them, I mean who wouldn't be? Kung imong anak gi away sa silingan, aw makigstorya nagyud ka sa inahan sa nangaway but in the back of your mind, lami-a sumbagon tong nangaway. But this is much more humiliating that children quarreling.
Wouldn't it be better to have the error corrected to the deepest level than just accepting an apology?
Do you want a "Quick & Easy" solution such as a public apology can hide the facts?
If it was just an honest mistake then why are the people in the committee afraid to investigate?
...my hunch...na a influential/prominent person maligsan...
The People has the greatest influence in any contest, religion, decision or even the country. If you think that was just a minor prize, think deeper.
Just my two-cents...
^ i get your point but the way it was handled was disappointing. saying things like it has damaged their daughter forever...c'mon, wasn't this a beauty and grace and poise pageant after all?
oh well, they can react to the situation however they like but im not watching these beauty pageants anymore.
So with the outcome of the Davide report, it was not an honest mistake. Problema gud natung mga Pinoy, if we commit something which in our hearts is dishonest in nature dali ra kaayo natung tangtangun ang "dis" para ma honest kay arun makalusot kung masakpan man gani.
Na common na na kaayo ni nga word sa mga Pinoy, "honest mistake". I would tend to believe now that, there was an effort by a lone organizer or maybe a few of them to rig the competition. On the part of the Burdens, it was too glaring kay hasta ang mga top guns didn't make any move to rectify the wrong right there and then.
So nisumbalik ra gihapon nila ang Davide report. I would say even Mike was negligent kay diha siya sa pagkahitabo. As father of the city, siya gyud untay maningamut ug correct sa isyu anang taknaa pagkahitabo kung dunay sayup. The city government's public apology to the Burdens was worthwhile but came a little too late.
"People will judge without knowing the real score." Some, maybe; but I think most people here are voicing out their opinions based on what information is available (i.e. statements from both camps on newspaper articles).
They (Burdens) wanted a public apology for the humiliation they underwent and so they got it from that published public apology (although the pageant officials already admitted way back that there was indeed a mistake and that they are sorry for it). Now, apparently, they say it's not enough.
Sooooo, what the hell do they really want? Can't they just get straight to the point and out of the winding road? If there's more to it then just say so.
Don't get me wrong; I believe that we have to fight for what's rightfully ours. If we can't put up a fight for these so-called "trivial" things then how will we able to face a heavier match, dba?
It's just that most people are getting turned off because the Burdens, unintentionally or not, look like they're making a big deal about it.
Then there goes, "Wala man gud mo kahibalo sa tibuok istorya."
Well, just fudging tell us what the real deal is. Is it about the pageant being "fixed"? Wouldn't that be the same as "pataka ug istorya"? Coz rumongers are already talking about it, YET nobody's officially confirming nor denying it.
At this rate, more and more people would just say that the Burden camp, indeed, are just making a fuzz about a "tiny" thing.
Bottom line is, if you don't wanna get your intentions misjudge then let it ALL out and go straight to the point.
Osmeña wants end to Miss Cebu scandal
Updated February 14, 2009 12:00 AM
CEBU, Philippines - Mayor on-leave Tomas Osmeña yesterday asked the city officials to give closure on the issue over the mix up in the Miss Cebu 2009 and spend more time in serving the people rather than discussing the issue.
While he welcomed the plan of the family of 2nd runner-up winner Kimberly Therese Burden to file charges against some members of the Cebu City Tourism Commission, the mayor said there are still a lot of problems in the city that the city councilors have to address.
“I just think that the city councilors should now spend more time serving the people, instead of this one side issue of a beauty contest. Don’t they have anything else to do?” said Osmeña, who is still in Houston, Texas where he is undergoing treatment of the cancer in his urinary bladder.
The on-leave mayor said the urban poor in the city have more pressing concerns, especially the dengue problem that he considers more important than a text contest.
“Let the Globe Telecom officials handle their own gimmick and problems,” Osmeña said in a text message sent to The FREEMAN.
He said he has also nothing against the plan of Kimberly’s mother, Dr. Rowena Burden, to file a complaint against CCTC officials, who are directly involved in the erroneous proclamation of the winner of the Globe Texter’s Choice Award during the pageant, saying, “Naa’y demokrasya sa atong gobyerno. Anybody can file a case whatever they want.”
In a separate interview, city administrator Francisco “Bimbo” Fernandez yesterday assured that the rightful price will be handed over to Kimberley, adding he has already ordered an all out investigation into who really is at fault in order to put things to rest. “Let us see who really is at fault and then let’s sit down and talk,” he added.
Fernandez said the investigation will give priority to the whereabouts of the Globe Platinum Plan inclusive of the Samsung Omnia unit which was announced during the pageant night.
Reports however said that Kimberly is set to receive a Nokia 7210 Supernova once she accepts the award.
A Samsung Omnia is worth P30,000 in the market while a Nokia 7210 is barely P15,000 but her family has allegedly decided not to accept the award and the price.
“But the question there is not whether she will accept the award or not, nakasala man ta we have to make amends. Where is the price? If the donor had backed out then the city will take care of that… kun naa pa’y mas labaw, palabwan pa nato kun mahimo,” Fernandez said.
Sybneth Orillano of the Cebu City Tourism Commission said the Samsung Omnia and the Platinum was handed over to the default winner Kris Tiffany Janson by Globe official Jerry Yntig after the announcement of the winner.
“But after that, question and answer na. So iya (Janson) sad gitunol balik sa staff and now wala ta kahibalo if asa na,” Orillano said.
On the other hand, acting mayor Michael Rama said he is happy that Burdens are taking a step forward to seek the remedies of the court.
“Now I am happy if the direction is going to court, let it be so, so that whatever are being heard and whatever are also being hit or being accused and ashamed, they can properly also present them. It might even include me because I have seen things like whatsoever,” Rama said.
Dr. Rowena Burden, mother of Kimberly, said that lawyer Alfredo Sipalay is now studying the possibility of including Rama in the charges for being the chairman of the CCTC. — Rene U. Borromeo and Ferliza C. Contratista/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
umm..the cellphone prize (supposed to be a SAMSUNG OMNIA) wasn't given to Kim daw..mas barato daw na phone ang gihatag..
for me hap, maayo ning nagka-issue ni para gawas tanan kababalaghan na nahitabo sa Miss Cebu pageant..para hasta past na mga kadudahan na mga panghitabo sauna mahibaw-an pud..
para matagam nang CCTC..
let's make the pageant HONEST! kanang walai favoritism and backer backer! para wai lutong makaw..
yes ms burden is the rightfull winner of the texters choice award and thats it, no matter what they do but in the eyes of the judges kung pildi gyud sila di pildi gyud, and no matter what they do they cannot even prove na nikas ang mga judges because this is a contest that judges decides on what he/she perceives to be the winner, like in figure skating, ballet, or drifting cars even boxing basta dili lang ma knock out contra there will always be contoversies and no body can ever beat the judges because judges perceive things on their own kung daog na sa ilang pang judge then no one can take it away from them... anyway if they continue pursuing a case then let them be but in the end what do they get? nothing not even pride coz they will never win the crown and no one will get punished for it trust me... ang makuha nila, ang kuwang lang gyud sa tagad
enough already?there are more important things to be pre-occupied with.like people who text while they are driving are a hazard not only to themselves but to others!
