Last April 20 to 22, 2010, I was invited by a friend to join a mountaineering event. We started at Mantalungon, Dalaguete, Cebu (PI) and camped at Osmeņa Peak on the first day and broke camp the following day and went down into Basak, Badian where we proceeded to the western coast of Matutinao, Badian.
These photos are seen from the view of a bushcrafter. Nothing fancy. All nature and no mayhem. First of two parts.
A concrete trail on a sprawling high valley
Osmeņa Peak, highest mountain of Cebu Island
My campfire circle
Two main campsites but I sleep-out alone 100 meters to the left
The Trailhawk at O-Peak
Sunset time
A farmer's field shelter
Sunrise on the trail
If you see this plant, go the other way
Perfect for making arrows
Libun tree, an endemic hardwood

Our family were regular hikers in buhisan, once or twice every month, that was 20 or 25 years ago. I really love the place, especially the thrill climbing on the sides of the dam towards the entrance of the bridge. We also used to walk along the creek with crystal clear water. I even witnessed many times the dam dried up and were planted with vegetables. There were still plenty of Cashew and Yati trees growing on the sides of the dam.
Karon, wala na jud ko idea unsa na hitsura sa Buhisan, daghan na kuno kaayo namuyo dapit didto. Maayo unta ug makakuyog ko ninyo one of these days.
Lain ni nga part sa Buhisan ako gi-explore. What you see were the Buhisan planted with mahogany and acacia trees by different generations of planting activities that is very accessible from the road. I approached Buhisan from a different angle and where I passed the vegetation is very thick and wild and maybe it is where the source of the streams that supply the man-made lake.
