Tomas asks dads to approve P26.9M SB to build 3 bridges

TWO weeks after the fourth supplemental budget (SB) was approved, Cebu City’s executive department is proposing the fifth SB amounting to P26.92 million intended for the construction of three bridges.
The entire amount will be charged to the capital outlay savings from previous years in the City’s Local Development Fund.
In a letter to the City Council, Mayor Tomas Osmeña referred the proposed budget that will cover the construction of bridges under the President’s Bridge Program, amounting to P24,968,399.
For the Pulangbato-Pit-os Bridge alone, a budget of P12,861,987 was proposed. The Guba-Adlaon Bridge and the modular steel bridge in Barangay Budlaan will cost the City P3,728,916 and P8,377,436, respectively.
In last Wednesday’s session, the council scheduled the budget hearing this Monday, which City Administrator Francisco Fernandez and some department heads are expected to attend.
Also during the session, the council approved a resolution including in the fifth SB the amount of P1.95 million for the repair and rehabilitation of the two mobile clinics at
the Cebu City Health Department.
Disrepair
Councilor Christopher Alix told the council that the vans are in a state of disrepair and badly need an overhaul.
In the price quotation submitted by Pasajero Motors President Franklyn Ong, the fabrication, general repair and repainting of the vans’ body and other repair works will cost P950,000 for each van.
The amount also covers general electrical layout and installation of lighting and fixtures, plumbing and installation of curtains and exhaust fan.
Mayor-on-leave Tomas Osmeña already approved its inclusion in the fifth SB.
The council also approved the realignment of undisbursed balance in the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) funds amounting to P3,909,752.33.
Since the amount has been previously appropriated for certain projects in the barangays and capital outlay from January 2006 to June 2007 but have not been disbursed, Osmeña approved the realignment of the funds for other projects. (LCR)
