UPDATE) Makati court junks rebellion raps vs civilians

A Makati City court on Thursday dismissed the rebellion charges filed against civilians, including former vice president Teofisto Guingona, who were arrested for allegedly joining the failed uprising led by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Army Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim at a luxury hotel last month.

Judge Elmo Alameda of the Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 150 also ordered the police to release the 14 civilians, including running priest Robert Reyes, who are still detained in a maximum security compound of the Philippine National Police in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Alameda's decision was based on the motion for determination of probable cause filed by former solicitor general Frank Chavez.

Among those absolved from rebellion charges were Bishop Emeritus Julio Labayen, former University of the Philippines president Francisco Nemenzo, and scriptwriter Elizabeth Orteza. The four had been released from custody.

The other civilians were lawyers Jose Virgilio Bautista and Argee Guevarra, the senator's brother Antonio Trillanes III, Myrna Buendia, Dominador Rull, Romeo Solis, Ruel Gadon, Rommel Loreto, Julian Advincula, Francisco Bosi, Leodor de la Cruz, Francisco Peñaflor and Sonny Madarang.

Alameda said the civilians' mere presence at The Peninsula Hotel in Makati City cannot be used as reason to charge them with rebellion. He said the police did not have any strong evidence against the civilians.

~ i did tot of it, why? coz its was symphaty vote to a hopeful(trillanes) i really did see changes in him.. u see we have to be a wise voter all the time, i even voted 4 from the opposition but not trillanes...why? he has a dark agenda on his so called anti-Gloria candidacy..but as i said i see changes in him for us..FYI: out of the 12 i voted only one didn't made it...
