to be frankly blunt about it
ang mga ofw nga nag reklamo
would be jumping with joy
if the exchange rate is 1:250
what would that mean to the Philippines?
if you do not see GREED in that
it means you chose to be blind !
sa mga nag reklamo sa 1:40
aw pauli mo oi.. daghan istorya bah
again, the point here is not how much an OFW will take in peso amount, the point is if an OFW who is barely sustaining their dependents with their salary can manage to adjust. We're talking differences in the thousands--that could easily have families living in rigid budgets falling short. I think it is moot kung pila ang exchange, what isn't moot is the value. Heck it could be 1:5, 1:500, 1:50--just as long as the domestic prices are kept in check. There is nothing "greedy" about sustaining a family from paycheck to paycheck, just to make ends meet. It may not be reality for all OFWs, but it is reality to a significant number of them.
Maybe they will. Will that help an economy that is virtually sustained by overseas remittances? Ang loser aning storyaha ang ekonomiya sa Pilipinas, if this keeps up.
The simple remedy is for businessmen to stop unfairly maximizing their profits and adjust the prices accordingly.
The greed is evident in the very common statement OFWs make with respect to the falling exchange rate:
"sayanga bai oi.. 38 na lang ang peso.. last month padala nako kay 45 pa to"
this, without considering that still, they are earning more than if they were back home... which they might not have a job even.
They should even be thankful having a job at that.
