Gloria pledges P10M for SK projects

PRESIDENT Arroyo pledged P10 million to help the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) pursue more projects, particularly the “Green Philippines” campaign.

Speaking before close to 2,000 SK officials during the SK National Congress in Cebu City yesterday, Arroyo said the country needs to tap “the enthusiasm of young and old alike” to clean up the environment.

“We must take back our forests and replenish fallen trees with new, protected forests to protect our land and our people...,” she said. “We need to beautify our trashy barangays and cities, build more urban parks and recreation areas, purify our waters, and clean up unhealthy and eyesore industrial sites.”

The administration is also promoting alternative energy sources as part of the campaign, whose scope covers four areas: reforestation, preservation of reefs and waterways, ridding the land and air of pollutants, and “energy independence.”

ideally, nindot ang SK. pero in reality, pwede ra gyud kaayo i-abolish. gi train naman gud ni sila pag vote-buying. sa among dapit, ang vote sa usa ka batan-on gipalit ug Php 10,000-15,000!! party pa bispiras sa election nya hatud kuha pag vote. pina kaon halos every week.

I think among democracy ruled countries, kita ra naay SK. By the way, I've seen SK checked in at waterfront hotel lahug last 28 Oct. I think they had a nationwide conference. Saucy! Of course, Gov't money = Taxes = Citizens money
