i admit that my presumtion THEN was false, i am not so familiar with Phils. colubrids (thank you heycroc for pointing that one out).. but i believe you're wrong too... most colubrid do have spoon-shaped head, as you might have noticed... macroscopic details like the scalation pattern, color morphology, body morphology, all adds up to how you classify and ident. a species correctly.. even microscopic feature do all entails a proper species ident... this is not the common bronze-back you are reffering to, as what heycroc pointed out, the size, color pattern, and the very obvious head scales do add up that this is not a D.pictus...
i still do believe this is either a Liopeltis or a Lycodon.. But my money's on the Liopeltis...
@heycroc -- mate, Mr.Diesmos i believe is currently in Singapore... Why do you try Dr. Angel Alcala, he's a very good, jolly fellow from SUAKCREM.. I believe he's the father of Phils. Herpetology...
You can also try Matt yuyek, a very good herpeculturist from Manila City, or Emerson Sy of the same city, also a herpeculturist...
i dont know if should say this in this thread, im sad to say i killed 2 snakes already on our backyard but that was because i was ignorant and got a little scared that it was poisonous and can harm us. dugay-dugay nasad hinoon to. i hope ang uban dili mo sunod nako.
after a while i found out from the tv show of kuya kim's "matanglawin" that one of the snake was called "rat snake" it was about a meter or more in length and plain brown. and the other one im still not sure of the name but i think it was a "garter snake" it was small about 15 inches in length. knowing all this i regret what i did, kani lagi wala tay alamag sa snakes..
pero kahibaw ko nga naa gihapon bitin sa amo backyard kay maka kita pa gihapon ko ug shred skin sa snake, if maka kita gani ko ug bitin ako nalang pasagdan kay im still not capable of having snake as a pet.
salamat sa mga info about snakes ani nga thread more power to you guys!
