Art of War by Sun Tsu
Go Rin No Sho by Miyamoto Musashin
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova = written in the tradition of Bram Stoker's Dracula (which of course, is another book I highly recommend). What amazed me was the historical accuracy which elevated the spookiness of the book. It made me want to believe....
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach = Believe the reviews, it is a book that pays tasteful homage to, yes, cadavers. This book may spark mixed feelings among those brave enough to pick it up. I thought it was informative and as a licensed professional, I appreciated it a lot!
Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut = The anguish and disconnection of a World War 2 vet cleverly hidden in a disjointed yet humorous tale. The book was first published in 1969 but given the current state of events, I'd say it's relevance is as important today.
